etohio Posted August 14, 2013 #1 Posted August 14, 2013 Just got a 1996 R1100r BMW and have put almost 200 miles on it. I like it but the Venture is in no danger of losing it's spot in the garage or it's spot in my heart. The BMW feels like a very very high performance 70's triumph. This thing stops better than anything I have ever been on, it does have ABS so guess that helps. When I get on it a little bit I can see me getting over my head very quickly (already had it over a 100). It does have a windshield but I do not think it helps that much and since I wear a open face helmet the air in the face is iratating which means I will have to go back to a full coverage helmet when I ride this. For me I think this is a 100 mile or less motorcycle while the Venture is a 400 mile or more bike. There is one thing that is driveing me crazy about this bike and that is when I cancel the turn signals I accelerate the bike. This is a little problem that I know I can work out at some point. This thing is like having a little hot rod to play with and with the potential of biteing you in the ass very quickly. I will give it a year and see how it goes. But one thing it has showed me is how great my Venture is.
