SummerBreeze Posted August 4, 2013 #1 Posted August 4, 2013 Aftter reading all I could find on carbs I decided to take mine apart and clean them. Just like Bob talked about in his write up they were a nice shade of brown varnish. Got them cleaned up. and all the passages cleaned. While putting secound /right one togather the screw that goes on the bowl end of the diaphram neddle broke off. I removed the pin and was able to get the threaded portion of the screw out with a small easyout. Problem now is where do I get a replacement screw. The parts manual indicates part number 1HV14565-00-00. the exploded view of the dissassembley chart calls it a needle jet cover. Does anyone have one they are willing to part with or can tell me where I can get one. Many thanks in advance. Oh yea, bike is a 96 Royal Star Touring Classic (the barn find I told you guys about in my last thread when I said Hi to all.

Do you have the link for Bob's article on the varnished carbs you mentioned above? I am also in the process of cleaning up my carbs off a 97 RSTD. -Wayne
SummerBreeze Posted August 4, 2013 Author #3 Posted August 4, 2013 When I started this thread I typed in Carb Help in title line and a box came up that had several existing post with the same title line. I read all of them, one of which was written by a gentleman named Bob Mayer.
SummerBreeze Posted August 4, 2013 Author #4 Posted August 4, 2013 I had a Gold Wing that had a carb conversion kit that changed the factory carbs to a progressive two barrel carb. Has anyone tried or know of any such kit that will work on a 96 RSTC?
