Dave77459 Posted April 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2009 Due to scheduling problems, I have to ride my bike to the shop where the new tire is and they will mount it. I want to keep the old one, since I have a few thousand miles left, I reckon, and having a workable emergency spare will be handy. Has anyone carried a rear tire on their luggage rack? Note that I have a RSTD.
pegscraper Posted April 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2009 Yes I have. Set it down over the backrest so it's half on the luggage rack and half on the rear seat, and strap it down.
Dave77459 Posted April 29, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted April 29, 2009 Yes I have. Set it down over the backrest so it's half on the luggage rack and half on the rear seat, and strap it down. Do I need to "compress" it? I guess I could go under the rack, around the tires, and over the seat?
pegscraper Posted April 29, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 29, 2009 Well, I don't quite follow. I used bungee straps. Just make sure there's good tension on them. I have Willie and Max's "Hooker" under the rear seat, so I have plenty of places to strap stuff down. I'm all the time carrying stuff with me.
