i enjoy browsing, gleaning ideas from posts and it's kind of mental bubblle-gum while on conference calls.
now if you want comments, post a question about tires or oil...

this year i've been in-the-right-place-at-the-right-time it seems.
Been fortunate to get seat time on various STAR products.
After 3 years on the '04 V* 1100, wife decided it was time for a new 07 RSV. now with 100,000+ on each of those, we stumbled across an insurance totaled 2006 Roadliner - all cosmetic damage. been riding that for a while now, LOVE the extra power but....
understand the rear tire life is short due to the increased torque. And there seem to be some neck-pain issues due to the riding position (hear it's common amongst Liner riders).
Son-in-law up in WA stores his 06 Roadstar in our garage here in AZ. So i take that out every couple weeks. plenty of power, handles better than the Liner (maybe due to the Liners skinnier front tire).
My daily commute preference is the V*1100. size, power, handling and it just seems more fun to ride.

STAR patch placement guidelines state
"No other club patches may be worn on the chapter vest without prior approval from the International Chapter Coordinator."
I have a PGR patch on my vest, no issues.
Meet with Alan Cease frequently - he supports PGR activities.
Had a Chapter member with a "support your local Hells Angels" patch on his vest, we did ask for that to be removed.
I see *NO* issues with a VR patch.
Cmon down to our Chapter #347- you'll be most welcomed..
BRAND requirements -- the only requirement - is:
"...chapter president must own a Yamaha street product..."
Can be a sport bike, cruiser, street licensed quad or sidebyside, whatever...and
President can ride whatever they like - just gotta own a Yamaha...

Old?!?!? well, i guess so.. prefer to think of myself as experienced or seasoned..
my favorite Venture "trick".. cruising down the freeway at 70 - 75mph in 4th gear as we come alongside an HD rider or two. Give'm a little wave (or tip my coffee cup at'em), slide into 5th gear and motor away...
AZ speed limit is often 75...

i'm using Firefox V15 and V16.. no issues here

i'm gonna steal that one.. ;-)

Oven mitts on both hands -- Phoenix!

YES! i have, on a few occasions, been requested to slow down a bit.
and it's never been an issue - from my perspective.
Wife is there to enjoy the ride as much as me, if she wants to go a bit slower - no problem.
My goal is to insure she wants to ride again, otherwise i won't be "allowed" to either.
stay safe...

very glad it wasn't worse for you...

well............. with 112,000+ miles on my 07 RSV - I know what you mean.
Here around Phoenix it gets a bit warm too.
As previously recommended - add some highway pegs in front of the floorboards.
I rest my hells on the front-end of the floorboards, balls or toes up on the highway pegs.
When positions just right - it allows a bit of wind to blow up the pants-legs.
ooo - don't be surprized if you get an occasional bee sting on you calf.. it's not soo bad ;-)
ride safe.......

This morning i ordered the Avon front tire - AM41 - 150/80-16 form JakeWilson .com.
will be delivered on Wed.
-
noticed if i turn the handlebars to the full right position - it's a bit easier to get off the kick-stand.

another weekend of experimenting with pressures...
couple hundred miles ridden.
2-up w/the kumho is a very pleasant riding experience.
no issues with cornering, smoother ride over most any road surface.
makes the RSV seem a couple hundred pounds lighter and more responsive.
however, seems that regardless of the pressure combination (front/ rear) there is still a darting/wag/wobble that does not appear to be associated with varying road surfaces.
have an Avon on the front - about half worn.
steering bearing sufficently tight.
wondering if it has to do with the 90psi to seat the bead or ?????
debating additional experimentation with the kumho, try a Radial T/A or order an Avon...
-
wondering what percentage of darksiders experience this wobble?
didn't feel it sat or sun while riding 2-up.
but the commute today was a bit disconcerting.
30psi on the way to work, had it bumped to 38psi for the ride home.
70mph & above - there was the wobble / wag...
just a bit of a pucker factor involved.
spoke to another darksider - he expeienced the wobbel with kumho but not with a bridgestone cartire..
thoughts???

Placing my droid phone in a tank bag w/see thru cover works for me.
loaded w/audiobooks and plugged into the 12v outlet, hasn't let me down yet..
-
Put just under 150 miles on the Kumho over the weekend..
Navigator says it's a much softer ride, less bumpy.
Running 30 lbs right now - slight "wag" in the 70mph area when riding solo.
just reviewd a bunch of posts this AM - think i'll pump it up to 38psi and see if that makes a difference.

chapter 2...
i had no trouble seating the tire on the bead with my small compressor.
the difficulty came in getting the tire to POP the last bit on each side.
last night i pumped the tire to 95 psi and let it sit. figure it will either work or i'll take it to the local red-neck tireshop.
about an hour later - while working on another project - heard the POP....POP... of success.
reduced to 40psi for re-assembly and test-ride this weekend..

Leaving work last friday the Venom on the rear was flat.
Local dealer quotes for new Avon were $190 for the tire, then $25 to $100 for mounting.
and they didnt offer to blow-in-my-ear for that price....
with 112,000 on the 07 RSV have been thru Bridgestone, Metzler, Michelin and Avon (my favorite so far).
long story short -last weekend I dropped by Harbor freight for a motorcycle bead breaker, motorcycle wheel balancer and weights.
cycle gear for tire spoons, then Discount tire for a Kumho.
all totaled - $209.
Then i fabricated a hitch-mounted tire changing "stand".. nothing fancy..
an old car rim, some steel box tube and left over fish-tank air hose (split lengthwise and siliconed around to the top of the rim).
Last night I began the manual swap- not as difficult as i'd thought it would be.
(swipped better-halfs' liquid dishwashing soap from under the sink)
Pumped to 70 lbs it just wouldn't "pop"..
stopped there - just not comfortable with pushing 100 lbs in there.
will let it bake all day in the Arizona sun -s/b 91degrees today. hopefully that'll do the trick.
From what i've read - appears 30 - 35 lbs makes the Kumho feel most comfortable...
appreciate any feedback on tire pressures & break-in (other than the "it can be kinda slippery for the first couple hundred miles")..
