  1. Anyone ever done it?

been thinking of makin it 1 of a kind

had them on my RSTD. had 2 inch risers and 16" apes.looked great but not the best for cruising on longer trips thats them on the pic of my bike before i changed them out.

  2. If it's getting hot, it points at a poor contact or undersized ignition switch for the power consumption of the bike.

If your bike pulls, say, 10A with the engine and headlight running but your ignition switch is rated for 7.5A, you'll cook it really fast.

I would carefully check all connections to the switch and the switch itself for thermal damage. I would also consider having a replacement on hand, just in case it dies on me while on the road.

thanks for your input!..having a new one installed..i personally didm't know there was a rating on them, thanks again!!

  3. hello everyone,..i have a 2006 rstd that has been customized,by me and by prior owner.the ignition is moved to the back behind seat,it's an after market one.the last week is has been getting harder and harder to turn key, today I turn bike on and do a walk around with turn signals on and bike stalled, started bike had it running ,same thing happens, start it up and go for a quick ride to see what happens ,I get about a 1/2 mile and bike loses power.i go to turn ignition off and its HOT !! I wait a minute and she starts back up...just need new ignition ??? and can I pull ignition off and direct wire (like hot wiring) so I can ride to shop without it shutting down in traffic ,and how do I do that ? thanks for any help guys,u always come thru !!!!:225:

  4. Not only do I have full coverage but I have $5,000 agreed value as a replacement cost. Yes that should be enough but I'm more concerned about the guy who screws with it when I have it parked in a motel parking lot (even though it will be under a cover) or it get backed into by an oblivious motel guest.

Normally, I don't concern myself with this, because of the weight of this bike I doubt anyone is going to walk away with it. Locally I can get home.

It takes very little to ruin a vacation. I would sleep better knowing that I will get immediately notified on the keyfob if an issue arises rather than "discovering" it the next morning.

I'm just one of those people that like to be proactive.

I like your way of thinking !!!! wish I could help with wiring. .sorry !!:mytruck:

  5. Do not!!!...i repeat do not buy a fairing off of e-bay,i did, paid $260 ,including shipping,garbage...inner fairing didn't match-up with outer, needed to be sanded primed and painted, cheap fiberglass..i went with a" reckless" came gel-coated and with a 12 volt outlet for $430 that included s&h..threw it right on my bike !!

  6. hey everyone..how long does it take for your cooling fan to start spinning?? bought my RSTD last year and never noticed when it started to spin or if it even does! should it start when i turn on bike or does she wait till it gets HOT? feeling stupid here ...and thanks !

  7. just recieved my bars, right out of the box seeming pretty NARROW!! did anybody feel yhe same way then changed their opion once on bike? wider bars are better for turning,i'm used too the beach bar stylethat were on my previous bikes, the RSTD i just bought in Oct,only logged about 200 miles up here in Buffalo NY,And i bought the bike with ape hangers on it !wanted to go with a touring bar and the flanders were highly suggested! but like i said ..seem kind of narrow..please let me know how u feel about your bar's and what kind your riding with,,these bars costed me $ 280 because i had to go with the 1 in an 1/4 bars because of my risers! once their on i can't send back...thanks for opinions!!!

  8. :fingers-crossed-emojust recieved my flanders bar,i heard great things about these bar's...seen pretty Narrow ! naybody feel the same way..their not on bike yet but right out of the box????? i'm really second guessing them!

  9. ordering my bars tomorrow, hope these are worth it !! i have 1 1/2 risers on my bike so i'm going withthe 1 1/2 inch bars.. $280... plus cables!! ..i bought the bike and it had 16" ape hangers on it..hate'em ! can't wait for new bars and i have my reckless fairing going on,now all i need is a trunk!..and the weather to warm up !!!
