  1. ya phil I also very interested in buying an f4 and I was also curious if the vent is worth the money. I was thinking about getting one with vent but if there is not much airflow through the vent them I am not going to get it. And was the rain getting through real bad or is it managable. thanks

  3. well I have finally got to ride my 07 rsv for couple days now. I have to say I love it, it runs great, rides smooth and I went on the highway and I was going 80 mph and it didn't even feel like I was going that fast. The only thing I don't like are the wipes, I wish they came out with some screw on short attenna's for the rsv. Or even might do the marshall mod but we will see. I also got my bike barn cover and it is sweet because I just pull it in and swing the front half down and I am done and the bike is cover. Great investment if you don't have a garage like me.

  4. I have been doing lots of research but I still haven't come across and easy step by step instructions for doing this marshall mod everyone talks about. I would like to do this mod but I am a newbie and complete dummy when it comes to this attenna stuff. Can anyone help me with what I have to purchase for the installation and how to do it. Please!!!!:fingers-crossed-emo

  5. Well I got a call today from my local yamaha dealer. They called me to let me know that they finished with all of the service on the bike. They rebuilt the carb, and put dunlop elite e3, battery and oil change. And washed it, so I got to go and see it and sit on it outside and started the beauty up. Man it has bubs on and it was so nice, deep throaty rumble. Man it got me so excited to get out and ride but this damn snow and cold weather just wont go away. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr someone please send me some nice weather my way!

  6. Congratulations on buying the bike !

Glad you posted your question and asked for the advice. You got several answers on what to watch out for and sounds like you've taken the advice and gone to the PO and dealer with this information. You became a knowledgeable buyer.

What was the final price you agreed on ? $9,000 ?

Is there any Yamaha warranty left on the bike (because it's been sitting for a while and has low mileage I doubt Yamaha would cover anything other than manufacturing issues anyway so a carb cleaning would be up to the dealer to do).

Is it a Yamaha dealer ?

Now all you have to do is wait for riding weather ! Good time to start looking at safety chrome ! Lots of people here that will help you spend your money !

    :clap2:

he xv1100se, I am buying from my local yamaha dealer and they will be cleaning and rebuilding the carbs. i am going to try to get a set of dunlop e3 throwin in to the the set price tho of 10500.00

  7. Congratulations from all the additional information you have posted since your first posting you should be fine. Don't take any of the negatives posted about your deal as anyone thinking your getting rip off. This bunch just wanted you to have all the info you needed to make a decision. Sounds like you got all the bases covered. Now if you could just do something about this weather so we can all ride that would be great LOL.

Playboy I am with you on that. Now since I buying this bike, I just cant wait intill summer comes. This is going to a long couple of months. I am just getting excited about the venture. I have had cruiser for every bike I have owned and nothing bigger then an 800. I cant wait intill I get some acquaintance ride with my blue angel. :stickinouttounge:

  8. Congrats man. I like the color. IT sounds like a decent deal, not a "man I got to have it" kind of thing but a good deal none the less. Also being you got the additional information that put you at ease makes it good. Sounds like the gent knows how to take care of things when storing them. He probably took the battery out so there wouldnt be all kinds of corosion and leaks. I think your a smart fellow for adding the new tires, I'm sure if you look closely at them youll see weather checking. Shoot my 09 had a late 07 and a 08 manufacture code tires on it and they were cracking by the rim. So I figured if I'm changing one the other cant be far behind and I went for it. Post some pics after you get it. Nice to hear about "barn finds". :080402gudl_prv:

Thanks man, Its not a barn find its a shop fine ;) And I sure will take some pics and post

  9. I have made buy decision on this bike. But I thank everyone on this fourm for there input and it help me made my decision. I am going to buy this bike. It is in Like New Condition. I looked at everything and everything looks great. Lonnie will rebuild my clean and rebuild the carbs. And put a new battery in it. I trust Lonnie because I have a big name in my town (small town 20,000 people) and if somethings goes wrong he knows its his ass and his business on the line + I have a big mouth ;) I have talked to the previous owner and I trusted everything he told me plus he still has stock exhaust he's going to drop off. The bike was stored in heated garage and away from mice. I mean come on he has 3 nice classics in there and you dont think he would take care of the mice problem if he had it, I'm thinking he would. There has not been any recalls done on this bike, and I talked to lonnie about this and he insured me that in march or april when I want my bike to get service with carbs, there going to type vin # in and check for recalls. If there are any they are going to do it right then and there. There going to store it for me intill march or april when the work gets done. I know many of you guys told me not to do it but from what I see, theres nothing wrong with it and its like new, but without the 9000 had to the price. But I have to agree, I think I am going to had new tires, better be safe then sorry.

  10. well I got the number and called the farmer, He said that he stored it in his heated shop 60 to 70 degrees and he stores a few older classic cars and he said he has never had problem with mice. And he said everything electrical worked perfectly. And I asked him about recalls and he said he never did get a recalls done but it sounds like he bought it later in the year so it maybe missed all of the recalls.

Also talked to lonnie that owns yamaha dealer, and hes said the only way he will do it, is take of carbs and clean and rebuild the carbs. As far and I can tell he is a trustworthy guys and he never steer anyone I know wrong

  11. well guys i maybe need to get some more info on previous owner, I looked at it and under the chassis, everything looks really good, excellent shape. The guys buy the looks of it keeped it cover. But you guys are right we maybe need to dig in to some history before I commit. And I have had family and friends buy other rec vehicles and everyone said he does a very good job satisfying his customers.

  12. I'd be more interested in exactly, "how" he intends on cleaning them...

    an 07 with 2000 miles?

I bought a 07 with 498 miles two years ago. PO had stated that a float or two that had stuck and he had to tap on carbs, and seafoam ... blah blah blah... point is... I couldn't get it perfectly adjusted when doing a carb tune. Then i developed a leak in my carb bowls from using (i'm guessing) older carb cleaner and ethanol gas, neither of which likes rubber.

To make a long story short, I had to take carbs completly off. clean and rebuild and had to change float levels. Now it carbtunes perfectly.

Make sure the dealer is going to 100% stand behind this "new bike". How many days? (90?)

Have a member from here help do a carbtune, If you don't have one.

Make sure the cruise control, radios and cb work and the back shock holds air....

I wouldn't worry about the tires if they are the Dunlop 404's. Youll be changing them this comming winter anyway :whistling:

KBB is quoting $9335. for one in Excellent condition...(they always run low)

NADA is quoting $10825 for average retail...

    Good luck

Playboys correct on that warranty.... my warrenty runs out the end of march(time to get my new shock)..LOL

make sure its not in the serial numbers that had a recall in 07 for head gasket leak???

Heres the kicker, There is no battery in it, so I wouldnt be able to test the electronics. maybe i can get them to put a battery in it so I can Test them.

  13. I just put on a OEM Yamaha luggage rack today. It was taken off of my wrecked 05 so I didn't have a template to go by. No biggie there thou cause as a previous posted said cover the trunk with some wide masking tape. I took a long flexible ruler and drew a penciled line from the center of the lock up to the embossed logo on the trunks backrest. With a helper to hold the rack in position I put it where I wanted it keeping the rack centered. Then used a pencil to draw around the racks legs. Drilled a small starter hole in the center of each circle, then a large enough drill to get the spacers and bolts thu. Once the holes were drilled, I pull off the tape then I started the bolts with a couple of threads to get the rack mounted. I found only one bolt hole slightly off so had to slightly elongated that one. Snugged the bolts up a little at a time till they were all tight.

Guess I should of done a "how to" but didn't think of it at the time.

    Larry

Hey carbon_one is the oem luggage rack fairly big, I was looking in the accessories books for yamaha and the pic made it look kinda of small.

  14. Well fellas I found my dream bike. A farmer around here bought this bike and didnt ride it very much so the farmer traded it in for a rino. It only has 2000 miles on it and as far as i can see there is a little scratch on the hard bags and a blemish. There is little bit of scraches on the windshield but not bad. The guy wants 10500.00 for it. The dealer will clean carbs, replace battery, and give oil change and get it ready for me when summer hits no charge, inlcude in the 10500. Do you guys think this is a good deal. Any input will be apprechiated. Thanks Color is bule and black 2 tone.
