Hey guys,
I really enjoyed seeing all of these pics. Everyone of them are great. I won't ever have a "hers" to show. Just me and my "Brown Sugah." I'll get her on the road one day soon.

Yeah Brian,
It has been a lot of work so far. I rode it when I first got it. I didn't start taking her apart for about 2 weeks. I put about 100 miles on her right after I bought it. Then I started taking her apart little by little. Thanks for your info.
Ed
You have a lot of work there, but the good thing is your initial costs were low. There are a lot of parts on Ebay, & people here are incredibly helpful.
One step at a time, you'll be up & riding in no time!

I finally got some pics of "Brown Sugah." The last one is the clutch master cylinder being soaked with PB Blaster because the split ring won't budge right now.

I am no mechanic but I would take these/or other photos to the dealer. And then give 'em hell.
I'm ready to blow a gasket with my dealers service. Twice I have Taken my bike to the dealer to get my twinkie leak fixed and still the same thing. Never notice it leaking when the bikes running or hot always after it has set awhile after being ridden. Any clues at to what is going on I'm about ready to tackle it my self and be dam the warranty just hate to have to buy the freakin parts myself. Sorry but I'm pi never mind any suggestions.http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63668&stc=1&d=1327596171http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63669&stc=1&d=1327596171http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63670&stc=1&d=1327596171http://http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63671&stc=1&d=1327596171

Howdy Andy,
"Bernice" is sure looking good. I've been watching/reading your progress. My 1985 was in a lot worse shape but I am getting it back slowly but surely. I paid scrap iron price for her @ 77.50 and so far I have about 300.00 in her. She is coming along good. I named mine "Brown Sugah." Keep up the great work and I'll definitely be paying attention. I must say again that this is the best motorcycle website ever. At least to me. So many helpful people.
Ed
Today I changed the oil but decided to run some Seafoam through the crankcase 1st.I was told the oil was change back in August (but I trust no one).
The oil was a dark gold caramel color. I found that out during the midcase cover spill while doing the slave cylinder.
I warmed up the bike, dropped in 6 oz of seafoam & spent the next 5 minutes on the centerstand going thorough the gears.
I cannot adequately describe the black sludge that I drained out. Not to mention the condition of the filter! After I changed the oil I did notice that the bike runs cooler. (according to the gauge).
All in all Seafoam in the crankcase is a good idea...at least once!

Great info you guys. Pictures also. I'm rebuilding my rear caliper this weekend so I will also check this and make sure it is put together right. This is the best motorcycle website there is..... at least to me. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Venturous. I got all my bulbs replaced. Speedo greased where it needs to be greased. Was fixin' to put it back together but decided to come in from the shop and check this thread. I used 3 in 1 oil on the tach.
Thanks a bunch you guys........
On the speedo, as you may have already have read, you want to put the grease down into the very bottom around the sleeve where the cable goes into from the outside. On the tach, I don't suggest using a thick grease like the speedo because it can make the tach slow, especially when cold.RamdyA

Oh yeah, I sure will. I was just reading some posts about that. Also gonna lube the tach, replace all of the bulbs. Might even order them LED's. I sure thank all of you for the info on this site. Best 12 dollars I ever spent.
VentureRider.Org = Git 'er done!
Happy New Year to all of you.
Grease that speedometer good before you put it back in. -
Ok, I will check that. Thanks alot.
the dimmer knob has a screw down inside it.Reach a small phillips down the hole and you can remove it. -
Thanks Yammer,
I have it out. Actually sitting right here on my lap. I just can't separate the front part from the back because of this little dimmer knob.
You must remove windsheild and trim. Screws that hold dash unit are on the sides of it. Lift out entire unit. -
How do I separate the dash to get to the gauges? My dash illumination knob won't budge. I have searched the forums and my manual diagrams but can't see how it comes apart.
Thanks

Thanks for the information on the gas filters you saved me alot of time i saw it on here a while back but could not find it again. -
I am still a newbie on here so I hope I can post this right and I hope these part numbers are correct.

NAPA 3011
Purolator F 100 24
AutoZone FF3330 (luber-finer G478) (has a metal body)

Carb Overhaul - what is "needle-valve screw" and float adjustment
in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)

I'm pretty sure they are referring to the idle jet/air mixture screws under the brass plugs just below the diaphram cover screws on the outside. Not "IN" the carb. Excuse me if I am wrong. I am no mechanic. Good luck.
