I'm on my second Kuhmo. Both took about 110-120ish PSI to seat. I run a long extension hose with a clip-on inflator head off my inflator(the kind with the gauge and a push button) and then put the wheel outside while I stand inside the garage. Push the button and listen for the pop(1st bead)....pop(2nd bead).
A nice warm sunny day and lots of "goop" on the beads will help.
A bit of a "pucker factor" but it works.
Once you get it on, just keep in mind that it will feel a bit different (squishy?) at first. Run a couple hundred miles and you'll begin to forget it's a CT. I run in the low 30's-one up and go up a couple pounds if I'm 2up and/or trailering.

The steering column on my wifes Saab has scratches on the right side from me trying to put the key in the non-existent ignition switch. Takes me a min to go "oh yeah, dummy".

I sit on a Russell Day-Long on my Venture. Best money I ever spent (it came with bike from PO -lol). Seriously. It is THE most comfy seat I've ever had, and I've tried 'em all at one tme or other.
Ride all day with ZERO discomfort. Last I knew they had an 8mo "comfort" garauntee.

Not sure of the dimensions but I have the Kury 3 pos switch(w/ rockers) on mine. It controls both sets of running lights on the front. Soon the unused switch will control power to the Carb heater relay. They also make one with paddle switches.
It actually sits on top of the existing cover, covers the cover so to speak.

I can vouch for the noise being there with wheel off the ground and idling in gear. I was worried too. Cant remember why I did it, might have been when I did my clutch, but it was the first time I had tried that scenario. I didn't think it was anything I did wrong with the clutch but thought maybe I had stumbled across something (bearing, gear, u-joint) worn and making noise in the drive train. Went so far as to take my jack and stand to a buddy's house and put his Venture up in the air for the same test. His made the same noise.

HD ride planner and GNuvi 765 as well. I use Mapquest to find my stops (usually gas stations and/or eateries) and then enter the addresses in ride planner. Mapquest, or I suppose Google maps if you prefer, has a better satellite view so I can "look down" and make sure the gas stations are on the correct side of the road and not one holers as I usually have a group following me and need lots of pumps.
Once I have my stops loaded I start moving the path between them to what I want using waypoints. This makes the GPS take the route I want as opposed to the route it would choose on its own, ie : shortest, fastest, less fuel, etc...
When you load it into the GPS you will get mutiple legs all labeled tripname 1,2,3... Once we stop I just move to the next leg when starting off.
Before downloading to GPS I zoom down on each waypoint and check to make sure they are exactly where I want. Learned the hard way that close isn't good enough. Doesn't build confidence when you take a group into a neighborhood with no outlet :-(
There are probably GPS's that do the whole route start to finish but now that I have this down pat, I'm quite happy with the way it works for the money and time spent.
If you know where the covered bridge is on the map you can just drop a waypoint or a stop on it and the GPS does the rest. No need for Lat/Long or an address. Or if not start with an address close by and move the stop or waypoint in HD planner.
Think theres a restriction in the 765 for max 20 waypoints.

The other solution and I think it's even cheaper is to swap to a Mr. Gasket 3psi "elctronic" pump. I haven't swapped mine yet but i have it on hand for when I need it. Remove the plastic housing and it mounts right where the old one was. MR gasket pump goes for around $35 at most loal parts places

Wife has recently started riding with me. Only took one almost incident to get her to understand. "DONT MOVE when we are standing still or going very slow. If you HAVE to move during one of those times make SURE you let me know."
Now she's a statue when she needs to be and can move around when she feels the need at other times.

Anyone here ever ridden the dragon at night? Was wondering if there is a lot of traffic after dark.
There was a guy named yellowwolf that used to follow you and make videos on a souped up goldwing. Puported to be able to outrun sportbikes. Heard he did the ironbutt(1000/24) on the dragon. Guess some of it would been in the dark.

Cherohala Skyway is a must if staying anywhere nearby. The Dragon wraps around a mountain and all you see while riding it is the next curve coming at you. The Cherohala climbs to the top of the ridge and (weather permitting) offers broad vistas of the valleys below as it traverses the ridge. Long sweepers as opposed to tight curves. It was closed over the winter due to a landslide, but I think there is now 1 lane open where the slide happened.
Bridal Veil Falls(Nantahala Nat Forest) is a good picture opportunity, There is also another falls nearby.
Everyone should ride the Dragon at least once. Best during the week. I have been passed in the middle of a tight curve while leaned over hard, by sport bikes at high speed.
Moonshiner is another good ride.
Pretty much anywhere you stay in this area there are GREAT roads to ride. We stay in Bryson City at a little family run motel called Two-Rivers. The owners are GREAT hosts. He rides and loves to show people around.
Cherahala is one of my favorite roads in the area. long sweeping corves are fantastic. the dragon is def a during the week ride. we found monday thru wednesday the best. rt 32 is awesome but turns into gravel 3/4 of the way so be careful. but no traffic at all so you can take your time. -
One word - Private adjuster! well maybe two words.
Do not EVER deal directly with the ins co. Their function in life is to give you as little as possible, and worse than that, they are VERY good at it.
We had a house fire and the priv adjuster got us about $50K more than ins co was offering and that was after his expenses.

It is an OLD design. Uses a set of points. The one I had on my Road* (essentially the same pump) was highly intermittent and would not work if it was cold. Once the bike was warmed up she would work all day long until next cold start, then nothing
Hi all I could not find is there a common cause of all these fuel pump failures is it a bad design, just a short life span of the product, or letting the fuel or pump get damaged. I'm trying to understand especially when I hear some of you just cruising down the highway and bike shuts off with no notificationThanks

I finally got a chance to pull the rear caliper and found that the pads (organic) were on thier last legs. I put a fresh set of EBC HH on and have yet to do any kind of riding that would allow me to check for fade. At the top of my list is to flush and refill with some fresh DOT4.
Need to inspect the front pads and replace if needed. Once that is done I plan to flush and refill Rear, Front, and Clutch.
Thanks for all the advice. Will now make it part of my yearly winter maint.

Find someone from this wonderful org that lives near you with a headset helmet and switch helmets for a few minutes.
Make sure you are about 100ft apart when you test. That should tell you if it's your headest(mic) or the radio.
Personally I wouldn't let ANY dealer near my bike to change the main computer and radio for ANY reason. You can't even begin to imagine the problems they can cause inside your fairing.

There are battery tenders and then there are battery tenders. The ones that use intelligent charging circuitry, and some have de-sulphation routines, should not harm a battery. The one I use is the BatteryTenderJr by Deltran. It is about 8-9 yrs old now and I have never had a battery go bad. I only use it on bikes that sit for more than a week or two.
The ones to not use are the "float" chargers/minders. These will cook your battery.

I was going through batteries on all my bikes, most lasting around a year. I found out that it was because I pretty much kept them on on tenders most of the time. They would just "burn" them up. I was constantly adding water. Once I stopped using the tenders, my batteries have lasted longer. -
Don't know about the other states but NH makes up for no income tax with Real Estate taxes. The other states my be similar. They gotta get the $ from somewhere.

Yea Punta Gorda is the place that got wiped clean. @ ways to look at this. 1) everything there is realtivly new 2)If its still stnading from then its built pretty dang good. Oh and whats the possiblity that one will hit exactly there again in near future? Hey I lived in southwest Oklahoma (tornado alley) for 20 yr while I was in the service in amobile home (we dont like to call them trailer houses anymore) But yea every spring I would go on the roof and make sure someone didnt paint a target on the roof for a tornado. I'll take the hurricanes any day. I guess I was mistaken about Ga not having a income tax.

Riding some twistys in the back of a group, I was quite literally fighting for my life to stay awake. Had eaten lunch about an 1hr before but this was way worse than the post-meal drowsies. Got to the bottom and stopped for a break and I was instantly fine.
Figured out I was being CO poisoned by an old sportster that was running really rich directly in front of me.

Used to live in RI. Done a lot of NE riding.
In RI the Newport mansions along Ocean Blvd are a sight.
Conn - Mystic Seaport is nice, Mystic Pizza is there along with lots of other old NE seaside charm
In Mass(Boston) there's Paul Revere's House, Old Ironsides, The North Church, Bunker Hill, etc... (if you are history buffs)
In NH Lake Winnapasaukee area(incuding Laconia) and White Mt's Nat Forest, including Mt Wash Auto Rd, Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch, etc.... North Conway is a quaint little NE town, but can be a bit touristy. The Kancamangus between Jackson/Conway and Lincoln is a nice ride. (Watch out for MOOSE!)
Any paht of thaa Maine coast from Portland tah Bah Hahba viahh Rt1A is a nice trip. Stop for some Lahbsta
If your gonna swim in the ocean, do it in Conn, RI, or Mass. The water temps might still be in the high 60's this time of year. Anything in NH or Maine(brrrrr) would be too cold for my old bones.

Only works in 4th and 5th gear, above a certain MPH(40, 45? maybe.) Sounds like you might need some adjustment on the Throttle cable at the actuator. There is a threaded shaft with 2 lock nuts that need to be adjusted properly and locked in place.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the tips!..When I get some time I will clean up the switches real good. I did take the bike out on the highway today to do some testing of the cruise control. When I press the center main cruise switch to "ON" it does indeed spring back to the centered position. When I press it to the "OFF" side, it stays in the off position which I am assuming for now is normal. Additionally now when I press this main switch to on, the "ON" indicator does light up and the "SET" does not. Which before the "SET" was lighting up. So for now that part seems to be working normally as well.I was able to get the cruise control to set and hold the bike at the set speed. It took a bit of playing with the "SET/DECEL" switch to do it though. Made it work a couple of times. But trying to accelerate or decelerate using that switch did not seem to work so well. But it is improving and as I said, when I get time I will clean those switches up. Again, thanks for the help!

Not 100% sure whats on the front right now. Think it's a metz and its a mt90 (ie:130) as opposed to stock 150. I run 38 in the front.
Went with the mt90 cuz it has a higher load rating than the 130.
Might try doing the old "rear(mc tire) on the front" trick next time I need a front.
