  1. I think my 03 Midnight looks better than the "NEW" leftover midnights with gray paint added and studs removed.:rotf:

I'm a weird one I guess......I like the fact they are keeping them the same. There are folks that just have to have a new one even though these things last longer than most folks will ever ride them. That means there are lots of used ones in nice condition, they have the bugs worked out and you can get them for 1/3 the price of new. The 06 I just bought would be hard pressed to know it's not right off the show room and i paid $5500 for it.

Mine are still in the "new" category since they look just like the ones on the show room.

Both of mine get over 40 MPG except when pulling a trailer. I don't see fuel injection making much difference in MPG but I can see where it could cost BIG $$ to fix a injection problem that the average Joe can't diagnose without special equipment.

The carbs on mine work just fine, there is plenty enough power for me.

I like the way they ride and handle. The bags and trunk are plenty big enough to carry things like rain suits etc for commuting and they pull a trailer just fine if more cargo is required for a trip.I honestly can't think of anything I would change. I do wonder what the big deal about the cassette player is.You are not forced to use it just because it's there. What would you change it to? A out dated CD player or 8 track?

The new ones do come with MP3. Is there something newer/better than having a MP3 with thousands of your favorite tunes at the push of a button?

Like I said, I'm just weird.

And sorry but I ain't adding gray paint to this one to trick folks into thinking it's a '13.

  2. I've had this several times.

    TRY THIS....

Get a bungee cord, rope etc and pull the brake lever in as far as you can.

Hold it in and wrap something around the grip and lever so it will hold the lever in.

    Let it sit overnite.

Release it in the morning and check for firmness.

I don't remember where I heard this trick or what happens but somehow it manages to get the hidden air out of the system.

I learned this trick some forty years ago and it's worked every time I've tried it.

  3. Just heard that State Route #130, a toll road between San Antonio and Austin, TX, are changing the speed limit to 85 mph! Now that should be a good way to clean out your carbs!

    Yama Mama:225::225::225:

It has been 80 MPH for a while now (which means folks run 90) so it won't be much faster.

I think they are trying to increase the ambulance and funeral business's.

    :223:

  4. MikeM, an air conditioner? :confused24:

We can't sleep if we are sweating like a sprinkler. Lots of times around here it cools all the way down to the 90's at night so we use a 9500 BTU portable room AC inside the tent.:)

BTW, we only "camp" to save $$ over motels. The motels also get pretty upset if you decide to have a camp fire plus we know what has been on our bedding.:shock3:

  5. I have two trailers. One with 8" and one with 12 and they both pull fine.

I would suggest thinking of what you want to carry then decide if the "car topper/tag-along will work for what you plan or maybe something larger or smaller will do the job.

I built my large trailer with the 12" HF kit as a base and had a box built large enough to haul my double size Tentcot along with our other camping gear.

I found a smaller 19 cu.ft. Shoreline with 8" wheels locally and we use it when we don't take the Tentcot or the 10X12 tent and portable Air Conditioner with us.

If you do buy from HF,Don't forget the 20% off coupon found in most magazines to save you some $$

  7. The house is getting closer to being finished out at the farm. I need to make a decision on Direct or Dish. Anybody have any insight as to what you are running now? Pros and cons would be appreciated.

Since I moved to the country 20 years ago I've found I enjoy sitting on the porch and talking with friends and family much more than watching some stupid TV show and having commercials rammed down my throat.

I haven't seen anything on TV worth paying for.

Sitting around a fire ring in the evenings, enjoying good conversation with good people and even gazing at the stars and watching/listening to wildlife is not only free but much more entertaining.

Save the $$ and learn just how good life is without the box.

  8. I was all set to buy a brand new bike. I looked and the only thing available built the way I wanted(shaft drive/full water cooled) was the Venture. I asked and learned they were the same from 99 up. I started thinking....I could find a nice used one with any bugs worked out for much less money.

I found my dream come true bike(My 03 Midnight) with everything already done to it that I would have done to it for less than 1/2 the price of a new one.

I like the RSV so much I wanted another for a commuter(I ride full time).

I saw a ad on Craigslist for a 06 in GREAT SHAPE a few weeks ago and snagged it for $5500.00!!

I now have my 03 Midnight for pleasure rides and trips and I have the 06 for everyday use.

    Life is good!!!!

Keep your eyes open and you will find what you are looking for!

  9. Hey guys,

Has anyone done this mod without the dremel extension? Looks like I can get in far enough with just the dremel by itself. I don't want to have to fork over $30-40 for the extension if I don't have to.

Sounds like a great mod, been wanting to do it for a while just haven't gotten around to it yet.

    Thanks and ride safe!

    1/2crazed

The ones on my 06 were done with a torch by the previous owner. Still looks factory until you get down and look in the hole.

  10. I would order this:

    http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35

Then you just unplug the connector beside the battery, plug this in, make your connection there without having to hack into any of the bikes wiring.

I agree it's the best way to connect without damage to the factory harness.

I don't know which light bar you got but I found some where ALL lights are lit both low and high instead of just 3 on low. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300726370812?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I ordered some of the clear lens, some red lens and some amber to install on my 06 RSV.

They also have a clear lens with white LED version that would make a nice light for the trunk or inside of a trailer.

  11. Ok guys and girls EUSA1 and I were discussing the Mustang wide, one piece seat. Best replacement for stock 2002 seat(not pillowtop)? Worth 650 bucks? Anyone got an extra one sitting around I can use for a day or two to try? 650 clams is a lot for a seat that doesn't feel any better than stock for my and my beautiful wife AKA passenger. Your assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.......that is all ;)

FYI There is one listed in the classifieds here for 495 shipped

  12. If it aint pork, it ain't BBQ. We have several good places around here

I've got a good source for pork and the price is right. I just go out the back door and walk down to the river pretty much any night and "Harvest" a wild hog the size I want.

Throw a whole shoulder with your favorite rub on the pit, smoke it with mesquite wood at low temp for about 5 hours then wrap it in foil and continue to cook at same temp for another 3 to 4 hours. Pull off the pit,let it sit for a hour still wrapped up then open it and grab the bones and simply lift them out of the meat.

Man my mouth is watering just typing this.....

  13. The back of my bike is lit up pretty good for running lights...but the only brake light is the factory installed rear brake light mounted on the fender. In the daylight I think it get lost so I'm thinking I'll use the reflector LED mod FlyingFool did up for the brake light and put a modulator on it anyway....and take my chances.

I'd rather take my chances with an uncooperative LEO objecting to it than with John Q Public who might not see my brake lights

    .

I added two of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-STOP-TURN-TAIL-LIGHTS-11-Diode-surface-mount-Clearance-trailer-Submersible-/300726370812?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4604b041fc (one above the trunk under the trunk rack and one below the trunk) and have them wired for tail and stop. This gives me tons more brake light than Yamaha did!

  14. Just a little update on the Hagon. seems maybe getting the heavy duty version is not a problem now. We find that a lot of people with this bike do ride two-up often, which is why we stock the special build shock as well as the standard one.

We could send it out on Monday, so you would have it by next Friday. As I said, we have them in stock and it's 4 days shipping to Tennessee.

    Thanks,

    Christina

    Hagon Shocks, LLC

    Thanks for the update Gary.

I have the Works shock on my 03 but I just bought my 06 with the factory shock and know what is in store for the future.

I may also order a Hagon when the time comes.
