  1. thanks kic but two things,i don't trust the mail and I'm afraid if it's been used on a first gen it might be to fast for my second gen. lol thanks for the offer but i can get one just 30 minutes away, now all i need is for someone to show up that knows what their doing.:bluesbrother:

Now I'll tell you what.....that there was a good one !!!

  2. I may have overlooked the post..... but I did not read that the spark plug is wet when removed.... but if it is... I would install a new spark plug and if the new plug doesn't do the fix then I would change the spark plug cap as Randy suggested.

If the spark plug is dry when removed I would lightly mist WD-40 in the sync port of the dead cylinder while the engine is running and listen for the engine to speed up which would lead me to recheck that carb. Not knowing what work was done on the carbs......would it be possible there was a paper towel or something left on the carb during reassembly...if so that would make the compression low and the cylinder dead.

I cannot imagine the sync being so far out that a cylinder with 130 lbs. of compression that is getting fire and gas....would seem dead when you rev the engine......just my thoughts........be sure to post the fix when it is found.

  3. Sounds good to me Skid. Early September maybe, and on a weekend/Saturday maybe, leave home Friday evening and stay all night in WV. Saturday - eat ride and back home on Sunday or Monday. :2cents:

Fuzzy...normally the colors don't peak until the last week of September thru first week of October in the higher elevations.....since the Mountain State Forest Festival in Elkins is September 29th to October 7th this year, you might just want to stay a week to enjoy the riding scenery and festival... if Skid was to pick the last of September.

The attached picture was taken on Spruce Knob Road October 4th 2008. Spruce Knob is the highest point in WV.

  4. It sure takes them a while to open up but I know that the more you play one, the quicker it happens.

Playing music through a external speaker suspended in the sound hole, with the instrument hanging or in a stand, will speed up the aging process. One month of 24-7 music with good bass vibes would be equal to 2+ years of actual playing time for me.

  5. It's more than I ever thought I would spend on a guitar but I do think this one is a keeper. :)

Don......34 years ago I remember using similar words after buying my HD-28 Martin. During the last 34 years the Martin Box has masked my many vocal flaws which has kept the welcome spot open in many jam sessions for me.

I paid $930 for the guitar...I have enjoyed it very much and refused $2800 for it last year. Wish I could say the same for my many other investments.

  6. here it goes, i was on my way to the K.O.A. early today careful not to draw a lot of attention do to the fact i had my wifes friend with me and now mine,

Seems this is the end to a lot STORIES......This was 2 days ago!

  7. This is the best deal I found

I did need to cut/shave a small amount of the rubber (not the sealing surface !) to allow the filter to fit between the guide. With the OEM filter there was enough room to put a screwdriver between the guide and filter, but not the case with the K & N.

I like the performance of the bike much more with the K & N.

With less than 800 miles after installing the K & Ns, and that being just short rides,....the MPGs jury is still out. I like to do an average of 4 or 5 tanks for the MPGs.

  8. After she cooooled down a bit, I bought her new clothes ( kinda camoed her), a make over and did all the paperwork at the courthouse to change her name......she is now SUNSHINE!!....and sorta cute....don't ya think?:clap2:

  9. What is the key on the right side of your fairing for?

After reading all the posts about ignition switch failure, I decided to install a keyed bypass switch instead of using a toggle or push button switch. I felt with the key locked in the trunk there would be less chance of the bike riding off into the sunset without me.

I had already run battery power to a relay inside the flaring for the passing lamps which many members said would basically be the fix for the ignition switch failure.............but .....since I was already inside the flaring for Garmin power and had the tank off for carb work.....I decided to wire in a bypass switch also.

  10. here it goes, i was on my way to the K.O.A. early today when i saw a first gen broke down in the center lane of the highway and turned around being careful not to draw a lot of attention do to the fact i had my wifes friend with me and now mine, when all of a sudden i heard a loud explosion and looked up and saw a pick up truck burst into flame while the bomb shell driver jumped out taking her clothes off that were on fire. let me catch my breath, than from out of no where a second gen pulled up and whisked the damsel away into the sunset.

What was I supposed to do??? You already had a passenger......besides she was smokin warm!!

  11. Al, the best fix that I could come up with is not so pretty, but works like a dream on my Venture. I got all the fittings and 5/32" nylon tubing (pic 0723) at

    http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Pneumatic_Components/Pneumatic_Fittings_-a-_Air_Couplings/Push-to-Connect_Pneumatic_Fittings_(Thermoplastic)

I picked up two short (1/2") hex head 8mm bolts (thread the same as the schrader valve...sorry). I drilled a 11/64 hole through the bolt and threaded 5mm x .80 .

I replaced the schrader valves on the shock top with the bolts and O rings (picked up at NAPA) and two MEL4M-M5 fittings. (pic 0720 and 0806)

I ran 5/32" tubing from the shock top through 3/8" wire loom to the inside of the flaring to a UY532 union. (pic 0678)

From the union behind the flaring I ran the 5/32" tubing inside 1/4" tubing (for protection) along the frame to the trunk.....inside the trunk I used a FS532-18 fitting that has a female 1/8" pipe thread to which I connected my pump with gauge. (pic 0805)

This lets me know that both shocks are of equal pressure all the time.

I have tried running 0 psi in the shocks but the ride with 5psi is the best, just my opinion. I tried unsuccessfully to get fittings and tubing for auto/truck air shocks that would do the job.

    I hope this helps!

  12. So Dan....Saw this and have to ask are you taking these classes in an effort to apply the mentality of " If you want something done right, Do it yourself" And apply it to your first contract otherwise known as "Your Garage"? :stickpoke::stirthepot::stickpoke::stirthepot:

    Signed,

    Mike and Tricia

Dan, looks like they are right on top of this plan........

Footers and block will be welded.....

  13. Thanks Yammer Dan!! uh...uh....You were talkin about me??:stirthepot:

On a serious note...I was thinking the same thing last month, while doing the clutch upgrade with Skydoc's parts, I was asked why I was basically "fixing something that wasn't broke" because my clutch had never slipped.

    My response was................

    They said I needed to..............

  14. The anxiety...waiting for slides from Kodak at Fairlawn,NJ.....did I get the lightning or not?....the sunny 16 rule......lenses mm/shutter reciprocal....."ANSEL ADAMS".......Kodachrome 25.....exposure bracketing notes........

"See What You Did Condor".........forced me to do a trip down

    "MEMORY LANE"

    Thanks

would be great if everyone would share a favorite pic.
