  1. Well the Venture is a total loss. Time for a new bike. I stripped some accessories off the bime that I am going to sell. If anyone is interested in any of these before I list on eBay let me know. I will be selling the chrome trunk rack, chrome saddle bag top rails, brake light bar and a leather tank bra with two pouches.

  2. The tires were the Dunlop 404 and the were approaching 10k miles. I did notice a strange feeling earlier in the morning when changing lanes. Tire looked fine and pressure was dead on. It needs an inspection next month so I was thinking if taking it in tomorrow to have then pm look it over. My first set of dunlops lasted about 14k miles. I did not hit anything, just a loud popm followed by a high pitchef screaming noise and then the fish tailing. Guy to my right saw it and hit the brakes so I had room to move over.

My wife asked if it is worse when the front tire blows. Has anyone had that happen?

  3. Just blew out the back tire on the highway. Almost made it standing. Used the grass bank instead of the pavement for the fall. Roughed up the bike a bit, luckily I am fine. Now to sit and wait for the wife to bring the truck so I can load it up.

  4. Mine were in the mailbox today as well. I did not tell the wife about them and just left them on the counter for her to see. She loved took her mug right to the bike and Miata to see how they would fit. Thanks Don!

  5. I have a Toshiba Netbook - 10". I bought the Toshiba because it has a full size keyboard even with the 10" screen. It has a 9 hour battery life. I have the NB205 model which has been updated to the NB305. I took it on my trip this year and it is small enough that it was a good fit on the bike.

  6. Just got back from a trip of 2,375 miles with the bag on the back. The velcro lines up just fine and works well. Great for holding the cover, cleaners, rain suits, etc. Just don't judge me from the dirt on the bike - was some bad rain coming home.

  7. I just returned home from the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway. Both are great rides. If you need a place to stay, the Iron Horse Motorcycle lodge was a great place to stay. Not far from the Dragon or Cherohala.

We rode Skyline and Parkway a couple of years ago. Like it was mentioned before, it makes for a long ride. We did the entire Parkway in a long day. The end is of the Parkway is by far the best part.

I actually cover the Front Royal part of VA for work so if you need any specific details of where to stay, eat or any other information give me a shout.

  8. Rode the Dragon and the Cherohala Parkway today. Great rides with excellent weather. Thank you to some suggestions we did the Dragon first, as the Parkway would still have been covered in clouds in the morning. Saw a great looking 2000 Venture today at the beginning of the Parkway. Gentleman was from WI. Forgot to ask he was a member of this site.

We should be heading up through WV on Friday. Our plans are to hit KY tomorrow, arrive in Charleston on Friday, Western PA on Saturday and home for Sunday.

You are correct. My friend that we are with actually has the information for our ride when we are at the Iron Horse. We are riding the 41 miles stretch of the Cherohala. We are going to ride the combination Cherohala/Dragon Loop on Wednesday. Guess it is 120 mile loop. Hope the weather holds up.
