  1. previously owned '06 RSTD - loved the conversion provisions, fuel mileage and the mustang seat. traded for a previously owned beautiful sparkled '07 RSV and ultimately wrecked & totaled the RSV 12/10 - loved the ride on the long days. the yamer dealer was honest, fair and considerate but ultimately closed due to economy. anyway, after the wreck, was determined to obtain a GW for no more than the insurance settlement. previously owned '03 GL1800 purchased 01/11 and 10K miles later, loving the agility and lower CG. wish I still had the RSTD and RSV along with the GW, but, I won't give up the GW for either the RSTD or RSV. Butt Doctor helped me with the seat to accommodate my 29 inseam. riding buddies all ride 2 cylinder bikes. to each their own as long as it is 2 wheels.

  2. tx2sturgs, enjoyed the video. What camera did you use and how was it mounted? BTW, just returned back to Fort Worth from riding to Mena, camping, up to Jasper & the pigtail, cross Ok and back. 3 days 1452 miles. Great ride. Great weather to tent camp at Iron Mountain.

  3. Why a 2003? Because I can purchase it from settlement without any out of pocket. Individual's Candy Red 2003 Goldwing with 44K miles, Chrome wheels, Chrome center stand, Chrome kick stand,Cobra pipes plus stock exhaust (in a box) with turn downs, ring of fire, extra lights, fog lights, hidden vertical mount trailer hitch w/cooler & rack, backrest, driver & passenger transformer running boards, heal toe shifter, passenger arm rests, spoiler w/led light, trunk rack, tinted swept back windshield w/vent, 2 Aria color matching helmets w/headsets, Honda maintenance manual, new battery, battery tender and a lot of other Honda, Kuryakyn and Show Chrome adders. The adder list is pretty long. It has never been laid down or wrecked. The Metzler 880 tires have less then a l,000 miles on them. Elderly owner is giving up riding. 03 looks impressive & no scratches or readily apparent imperfections. Rotella oil since purchase. Checked VIN with local dealer & all recalls current. No fork bearing replacement or added fork brace. Seems to compare favorably with other 'for sale' GL1800s I see on GL1800Riders forum.

  4. Glad you are considering a RSTD. I took my 2007 from Fort Wort to Mena AR and back twice this year. Went to north to Talihina, OK & rode the Talimina Drive all the way to Mena, tent camped, rode the twistys around the area and returned to Fort Worth via Talimina Drive. Iron Mountain is a great place to camp, good showers & facilities. (Talihina has a great soda fountain/ice cream shop!) 3rd gear on the RSTD is great - lots of power. Touched the floorboards every so often when I pushed it hard. I changed my seat to a Mustang. I love the conversion factor of the RSTD. It looks great with the shield and luggage rack removed for 'round town riding! Road cruising with the wind shield on cruise control really helps the miles go by. BTW, wanted the finer comforts of fairing, radio & trunk so I traded it in for a 2006 RSV but I kept the two piece (vintage, no studs, no conshos) Mustang seat with driver backrest). Unfortunately, it will not fit my RSV. As others have said, try a RSTD and you will certainly like it!

  5. Lots of products available. Depends on how large & heavy you want. Cabela's Deluxe XPG™ 2 person Tent is what I've used this year. Works great, full size rain fly, ventilation works & is sized right - fits in saddle bag. Their Alaskan Guide self-inflating sleeping pad and Eureka sleeping bag rounds out my camping package. Everything packs on the bike.

  6. Any one have a recommendation for a day route from Fort Worth TX to Hot Springs, while avoiding 4 lane roads? Can't go the the rally but 4 of us are considering leaving 9/16, a day in Hot Springs the 17th and return back 9/18. Wish we had more time but oh well.
