    Rivco Center Stand Production

    I used a small scissors jack to put pressure upward on the stand after installing the front large bolts. This made it easy to line up the two smaller bolt holes... No problem with lining up with the use of the jack... The more pressure with the jack forced the mount upward and the two holes lined up just fine... All this was done with the bike on the side stand.

     

    After mounting, I put the bike on the center stand and went to work on the emissions valve remount. It was not easy....but did finally work. This is a "think" as you go process with this valve. A little persuasion to get to all the remounting bolts....and the job was almost complete. I did have to bend the mount a little to ensure clearance.

     

    Then adjusted the rubber stop for the right clearance....

     

    Job done....(couple of hours or so)...LOL. I am very slow....and old....

     

    I haven't tried the jack under the bike yet. I do have a Carbon One adapter that I have been using with the MC jack. It doesn't appear that the center stand will need to come off to use the jack without the adapter. Yep...the adapter won't work with the stand mounted. But it looks like the jack will work good, as there are two flat plates on the center stand mount that should fit just fine on one of the jack arms.

     

    And...my bike is lowered also. I did not have any difficulty at all getting it up on the center stand and off again. Didn't use a board for space.. Just flat off the floor. It popped right up and rocked off easily... Maybe it is not as low as some....

     

    Sure like the convenience of checking the rear and front tire for nails, etc.. And also checking the oil is now very easy...as the bike is level...

    Just talked with Stephanie at Rivco about a center stand for my 2000MM RSV. She said if they can get 20 orders (with a deposit to be charged when the stand is shipped), they will make a production run of RSV001 which is their center stand for '98 and newer Ventures. Their catalog shows a price of $349.95.. She said they have several calls/orders now and looking for minimum of 20.. Ask for her at 1-888-801-8222

    I just received an email from Chick at Rivco saying they are just about ready to make a run of Center Stands for our 2nd Gen Venture. They have 30 interested in one and when they get 20 committed with a $100 deposit...they will start the run. Anybody interested should let them know now.... She said things are moving fast!! As in the run will be very soon. Thanks.....

    Ditto on being sure to try them on. I have one also and after trying on and trying on and trying on at the dealer....I bought one...or I should have said ordered a white one. Dealer didn't have one in stock....only black. Love the helmet, especially the internal sun shield....:322:

    Run For The Wall 2012

    Just returned home from riding the last 3 days of the Southern Route of "Run For The Wall 2012".. A real experience to say the least.. I would recommend riding what "legs" you can next year. It will be the 25th Run and should be something very special. A buddy of mine on a GW and I on my "Limited" joined the Southern Route Group in Chattanooga and rode with them all the way into D.C... We rode home on Sat/Sun and didn't stay for the "Thunder Run".... Very well organized and satisfying.... It was mostly HD, quite a few GW and some Yammy's....Trikes, sidecars and trailers also... Each group was in their own platoon.. Rain on the first day, but beautiful the rest of the way....

    Escapade Trailer Cooler Pic

    I have purchased an older model Escapade Classic Trailer and want to make a cooler rack to install on the chrome trailer tongue. California Side Car who makes this trailer, offers one for the trailer, but I would like to use my own cooler and thus have to make my own rack. Their package is made for their cooler. I did purchase the chrome mounting brackets from them for their cooler package as they sold them separately, but have not seen how to use them to make a rack. It is not self-explanatory (LOL).. If you have an Escapade Trailer with the cooler rack, would you take a couple of pictures of the rack so that I will know how to start making my own... Another reason I didn't buy their package, was the color of the cooler cover. It won't match my bike (2000MM RSV Pearl/Sand). Thanks in advance for your time...     Anyone had a knee replaced and still riding?

    Just to chime in here and give some info that I think is value about hip replacements.. I had mine (right) replaced 6 weeks ago and it is doing great.. I was back on the Venture after 4 weeks with the original pain gone and good movement. I could lift my right leg over the seat (straight across in front of the backrest) and handle the weight of the bike easily.. It is still a little sore where healing is still taking place, but the pain from bone to bone from arthritis, is gone. I attribute the early recovery to the type of replacement surgery I had. It is called "Anterior Hip Replacement". They go in from the front of the joint area, spread the tendons apart and insert it all from there. There is NO cutting of any tendons or muscles, as is done in a Posterior Hip Replacement, so healing is quick allowing recovery in a matter of weeks.. I had the joint replaced on Tuesday, came home on Friday and could walk (carefully/very slowly) by Saturday/Sunday without the walker or cane..(and I am 67 years old). If you are going to have a hip replaced...I HIGHLY recommend you research this method. It has been done for years in Europe and has made it to the USofA in the last couple of years. It requires a special operating table to perform it. This allows perfect alignment and there is no limp from a short/tall replacement. If you didn't know I had it replaced....you couldn't tell it.. Google: Anterior Hip Replacement...and find someone in your area who does it.. I guarantee you will forever be grateful....!!!

    Mine was done by Andrews Sports Clinic, St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, AL....

    Saddlebag Rails

    I just installed a set on my 2000MM that I purchased from a fellow Venturerider.org member and it required no drilling. The inner brace installed in an already factory drilled bolt hole in the chromed fender brace. I only had to push the chrome plug out of the hole and the included bolt with the rails just screwed in....(allen head). I pushed the rails down to a level position and tightened the front bolt securely (under the reflector assembly position that already had a hole factory drilled). The rails are level and match the bags correctly. And not too close to the rear turn signals... I had to buildup under the new location for the side red reflector to sucure it, but that was an easy fix with a section of car heater hose that I had... Looks good and EASY!!

    Yammy Dealer in Cleveland, TN

    Back during the 80's when I had an '83 Royale, I visited this dealer (Bob's Cycle) in Cleveland, TN quite often on my way to the Smokies. It was a family owned dealership and seemed to cater to the touring rider (as in large bike) back then. They kept a good inventory of accessories and clothing, as well as a good inventory of bikes and had a good service department. I see they are still in business and wonder if anyone is familiar with their offerings now-a-days, as I am riding a 2nd generation RSV now. Most of the Yammy dealers around my area, don't carry much for the Venture Rider. It is all order based...and they cater mostly to the cruisers, dirt riders, water craft and 4 wheelers.

    Audio Headset (HS) Not Option

    I installed a J&M Headset/Mic unit in my helmet yesterday to use on my 2000 MM. I checked all the connections for the helmet unit, but nothing comes through it. In selecting options on the audio panel of the bike....HS is not an option...it does not come up after SP. SP and all the rest of the adjustable controls seem to work fine, but no HS Option. I tried the rear headset plug also...nothing. I don't know if HS have ever been used on the bike. I think the previous owner did not use them. Is there something that needs to be connected/adjusted on the bike, before HS option is made available on the audio panel and they will work? Or am I looking at a new "part"? The J&M unit is the correct one for the bike and should work if HS can be selected. Thanks in advance for your interest and answers...
