  1. After our WNY meet and eat last weekend , my wife commented to me as we were almost home that she thought she heard a noise from the rear wheel. So I quieted the stereo about 90 decibels and listened. Yup , definately a growl between 40-55 mph accel or decel. Not horrible but certainly noticeable. Feel nothing in the seat no roughness. Could be the tire howling a bit or internal. This is my 2nd RSV and its new with about 600 miles on it. I am positive my last one did not make this noise, although maybe I didn't hear it over the whine.......Any thoughts? (Fluids full , tire pressure is spot on, rear hub was not hot to the touch)

  2. ems took him about 545 this morning. he fell and was in so much pain. i wish more and more every second that all of this only happened to me. i cant bare to see him in this pain. i know in my heart this isnt my fault, but i am the one who wanted to ride so bad.

    please pray for him

WHEW WE WEREN'T THE LAST!!!! :dancefool:

  4. I had a 2004 RSV and went to a 2007 Harley. I had NO warranty issues with it or problems, however the vibration , the HEAT (WOW!!!) off the engine , the truck-like transmission (sorry , there is no way in this day and age a tranny should clank like that) and the general feeling it wasn't put together quite as nice as my RSV nagged me , and I am now on a 2010 RSV. Don't regret trying the Harley , its wasn't a bad bike , it was however (In my opinion) very overpriced and did NOT hold its value any more than anything else I owned.

  5. Finally got a chance to try them out , 45 degree ride from Rochester NY to Buffalo, these quite frankly are the best investment I have made to date on my Venture. The difference in the wind is simply amazing. It is completely gone from the top of my shins and lower abdomen. Thanks for a GREAT product!!!!!!

  6. I actually think that company was lurking and maybe in production at the same time the spyder was. It's a Hyabusa dropped into a custom manufactured front cradle. It lacks VSS ABS of the BRP etc etc but probably goes like a raped ape in a straight line.

As for BRP , we have a 2010 Spyder RT in the garage right next to the Venture , and its so far ahead of the original 2008 Spyder you shouldn't even call it 2nd generation. From the electric windshield , electronic throttle , huge storage, seating position , CB and XM radio, to fit and finish it's not even in the same league.

I'm certainly not debating 2 vs 3 wheels here , but I will tell you , I wish Yamaha would make one of these. They are pretty darn addictive. In the meantime I will have 2 steeds in the stable , although the Venture grunts at it when I pull in once in a while... :nanner:

As luck would have it ended up having to work but THANK GOODNESS its 65 miles one way so I at least got a 130 miles in today lol.. Thursday looks like my last gasp attempt at a full day of riding for the year!:95:

  8. My new RSV has been sitting in the garage for 3 weeks since I bought it waiting for me to finish a huge work project and today is the day!!! It is going to be an awesome day here in Western NY and she is idling in the driveway right now. Its 44 degrees currently and it will only get warmer. WAHOO!!!! See ya on the flip side! :cool10:

  9. it comes out today , anyone going to download it today ? i bought a new netbook last mo. and it came with a free download . i am not sure how to do it . i was told to do a backup before installing W7 but i don't have a diskdrive so i have to use a online backup . i am worried about it , i have never installed a OS before , any help would be great !

I hope it is as good as everyone says it is. I switched to a Mac 4 years ago and will never ever look back. 48 months not one virus , not one crash , not on hiccup , anti virus software? whats that. Hopefully Microsoft will get there someday. Switched all my kids (4 teenagers) at the same time and have not had to work on their computers ONCE. It used to be a nightly thing. The article I read said Windows 7 is acting alot like Mac's Snow Leopard , so thats a good thing! :smile5:

  10. Well suffice to say that my last oil change with AMSOIL will be my last due to the costs.. wow.. that was an expensive oil change.. $20 a bottle plus filter.. taxes comes up to over $114 CDN.. I called to see if I can buy it online from AMSOIL and after shipping and taxes it's even more expensive..

For synthetic oil, we've found that the Kawasaki brand of synthetic oil is only $10 a bottle with taxes..snipped .

Many people forget or do not realize that Amsoil (while it is a quality oil no worse than any other) is sold through multi-level marketing. MLM schemes do greatly inflate the price of a product. So while you are getting a good product , you are paying many people in the food chain . Sticking with a regular manufacturer brand or something like BelRay means all that additional expense is not there. Its a shame they chose to build their comany that way (imho). Here is the basic breakdown as directly explained by amsoil to prospective dealers. As with all MLM schemes (INMHO) there are too many people in the foodchain taking profit. :

Earn profits through retail sales. As an AMSOIL Dealer, you purchase AMSOIL products at Dealer cost and then sell them at the suggested retail price. Your income starts building immediately with retail profits!

You also earn monthly commissions on your purchases from AMSOIL. You get extra profits with AMSOIL commissions. Every AMSOIL product you purchase has a commission value, known as Commission Credits. At the end of each month, your commissions are calculated and AMSOIL sends you a check, based on the AMSOIL Commission Credit Schedule. (Minimum total monthly volume to receive a commission is 100 commission credits.)

Earn profits with catalog sales. You can also sell AMSOIL products with the AMSOIL Retail Catalog Program. Catalogs can be purchased directly from AMSOIL and then distributed to potential AMSOIL customers. Once the catalogs are in the hands of your potential customers, any sales made will earn you retail profits and commission credits automatically. Order taking, shipping, and returns are all handled by AMSOIL INC.

Earn retail profits and commission credits with online commerce. The AMSOIL Online Store offers customers the convenience of ordering AMSOIL products over the Internet. As in the Retail Catalog Sales Program, products are sold at suggested retail price and AMSOIL Dealers earn the retail profits and commission credits. Order taking, shipping and returns are all handled by AMSOIL INC. AMSOIL also offers website packages and other options that allow all Dealers, regardless of computer experience or equipment, to participate in Internet sales.

Multiply your profits by building and managing your own sales group. When you sponsor new Dealers and Preferred Customers (just like you would be sponsored as a Dealer) you are building a "downline group." The commission value of your group's purchases is added to yours, increasing the percentage of your commission and giving you a bigger commission check. The primary difference between Dealers and Preferred Customers is the right to earn commissions. Dealers earn commission checks based upon their commission credits and the commission schedule. Preferred Customers do not earn commission. All commission credits earned by Preferred Customers are credited to the sponsoring Dealer.

Commercial accounts are a great opportunity for AMSOIL sales. Earn 10% cash commissions plus 20% commission credits.* Commercial accounts can provide a steady source of income for an AMSOIL Dealer. Commercial accounts are businesses which have company-owned vehicles, equipment and machinery that use the quality lubricants and filters available in the AMSOIL product line. These accounts do not sell AMSOIL products, but choose to use them in their equipment and machinery. When you register a commercial account, you earn a 10% cash commission on every purchase your account makes. In addition, you also receive 20% of their purchases as commission credits which are applied to the commission schedule and added to your commission totals.

More profits in retail markets. Earn 20% cash commissions plus 20% commission credits.* Selling AMSOIL to retail accounts is another way to earn commissions. Retail accounts are retail outlets such as auto parts stores, motorcycle dealerships and automotive service centers. These stores stock AMSOIL products to sell to their customers or install AMSOIL products as part of a service such as with oil changes. When you sign up a retail account, you earn a cash commission on every purchase your account makes. If your retail accounts purchase XL 7500 motor oils and Hastings Filters, you will receive 15% cash commissions. All other purchases earn 20% cash commissions. In addition, you receive 20% of their purchases as commission credits which are applied to the commission schedule and added to your commission totals.

  11. I have added some more miles and still am a Motorkote suporter. Added to my truck and it has made improvements there also.

From reading all the posts it is appearing that the results are very similar to the problem itself, which is, it varies from bike to bike.

The motorkote will not eliminate the whine and there are some good posts reflecting that information.

For those of us that had the whine that went to chirping to something of a high pitched scream, it appears that it has helped.

As I posted earlier my whine is there but the length it lasts is shorter allowing to easily get out of the annoying range very easily.

Whine is more noticable in a putzing style around town than it is when I am either riding the twisties on some back roads or on the highway cruising. (no sounds at all at highway speeds.

Third gear is loudest for me followed by fourth but fourth is getting better the more I ride.

The pitch and volume are much less and it is now more of just an operating noise of the engine at certain rpms that fades into the pipes and other noises.

The smoothness is impressive and overall engine noises have diminished.

Clutch and shifting are very smooth.

It appears that those who have seen little or no difference may not have had the problems that others had been experiencing to begin with.

I have been impressed with the results and it will be going into all my equipment that has oil in it.

I look forward to seeing if anyone that has had positive results has a set back or any other problems in the future.

It is nice to know that what I have experienced was not just my imagination and that others saw and are seeing the same results for the most part.

This site and the information contained and shared is a blessing especially for those of us who are just learning and experiencing the total experience of this machine.

Until something hits the forum to shake my confidence :hurts: motorkote is in my machine.

Thanks for posting and giving me the confidence that there will always be help just a post away.

    Thanks again

Dan:draming: one less thing to keep me awake GONE!

Hey , its really late and I don't want to go into a huge long post on MK , its a good product , I had it in my last RSV and as an owner of a new 09 RSV it will go in this one too , at about 3000 miles , my point is DO NOT put this in a motro that is new , the anti friction ingredient is so good that the motor will never break in , all motors need friction when new to get the parts to mate . MK will never allow this to happen and you will have blowby and low compression. Awesome stuff , just WAIT until at LEAST 3000 miles. :080402gudl_prv:

  12. If your bike is in good shape, you have full oil recirculation within 30 seconds of start.

What get's me is my Harley riding neighbor. His idea of "warming it up" is to sit there for 5 minutes racing the engine over and over.. He does this with his cars as well. Nothing is worse for an engine than to start it and then instantly run it up to 3500-5000 rpm. Running little to no oil on a cam will wipe it out fast.

Ummm, one correction , as a former Harley owner , he isn't warming it up , he is keeping it running.... :rotfl:

  13. Picked up my new 09 today and rode her 80 miles home , I've been on a competitors model since I sold my 04 RSV in 2005 :8: What a joy to get back in the saddle of an RSV. I put 13,000 miles on my last one (please don't ask why I sold it , I really don't know) ... 4 years later it was like I never was without it , now on to breaking it in.. :hihi:

  14. As an avid enthusiast who has logged over 250,000 miles in the seat , The year 2005 ended with me selling my 2004 White (trouble free) RSV and getting involved in the Can Am Spyder preproduction testing with BRP due to a long relationship I had with my local dealer who sells both Can Am and Yamaha

(amongst everything else ) At the time I had purchased over 40 Can Am / BRP products over the years and have been featured a couple times on BRP's website as the number one BRP loyalist. I've been invited and toured the facilities in Valcourt Quebec and in general bled Yellow blood for those guys from a marketing standpoint.

I then bought 2 Spyders in Early 2007 and my wife and I have spent the last two summer racking up alot of miles. What we have also racked up is a ton of nagging issues, from Dynamic power steering failures , to driveability issues to limp mode problems when the Gear position sensor decided to take a dump etc etc. My dealer and I (Pioneer Motorsport in Sardinia NY) basically helped BRP put together fixes that helped many Spyder owners and after missing the one week of vacation I could get in this crazy world this summer due to 2 failed DPS units on our Spyders , in the end we had a pretty good machine. It's a whole different riding experience that I won't get into here due to space but I was excited to see the 2010 Spyder RT be released 2 weeks ago and will begin delivery Late December here after the snow flies. I went and ordered my 2010 with the factory trailer package and it came in over $30,000. My neighbor runs the largest Can Am BRP website on the web and was chosen along with 4 other journalists to ride the RT for the next 90 days and show the world so to speak. Long story short , he dropped me an email when he picked it up in Quebec and said , sorry Brad , you can't ride it. He had asked BRP if I would be able to give it a spin and give my evaluation, and they said nope. I thought this odd due to my relationship and emailed their VP of Marketing who had set this all up and did my best sell job to get a ride around the block and got 3 sentences that were a blunt "no" and no apologies for all the past issues and oh by the way Demo rides should come to NY later this year or next year. Well , its the Spyder I had dreamt about and it was finally built exactly like I would have designed it as a incredible long haul touring machine. But in 12 hours , I came to my senses and pick up my new Red and Black RSV tomorrow morning at Pioneer. How a company could pick up and throw away a customer like that is just beyond me , but I am feeling absolutely thrilled about my choice to come back to the fold and I hope ya won't hold my past sins against me... :happy-emoticon:
