  1. tires around 20 right, you have a straight axle not a indepentant suspenstion I think both of them give it a rougher ride. is your steering head bearing tight, I like mine, but will rake it over winter to improve things.

Hi Jonesy..Names Carl..I have a t/w kit and was wondering if anyone has come up with a side cover plate set up for the void area between kit and bike? THANKS FOR ANY INFO. CARL...

  2. Yeah...I did my first oil change and used the Rotella T6 synthetic oil...but I accidently (actually my buddy finished the jug off when I wasn't looking) OVERFILLED the oil. When I use the sight glass (on the level)...all I can see is a bubble at the top...so I know it's overfilled.

Now...I am wondering the easiest way to drop some oil out...the oil filter, the plug...or even through the fill hole (Yeah, I know...I doubt that too).

    Any suggestions.

    Wally

Wally might I suggest the (AMSOIL) oil removal kit...just for times like this..price is about 12-15 $...Carl:080402gudl_prv:
  3. HELP HELP I have a tri-wing trike kit and am having rear end problems..figure it would be cheaper to buy a rebuild than to have this one rebuilt...been on the web looking for one but no luck.....is there any out there anywhere???..Thank You for any advise...:crying:

  4. Stood the bike up today and the left grip cracked in my hand. Called Kuryakyn customer service. All they did was to offer to sell me a replacement grip along with shipping costs. I have never seen one of these grips crack.

Im just curious if anyone here ever had that happed to them.

No not the left grip but I have went through 3 throttle grips due to the cable attachment tips breaking off in 2 months. Not a tension problem--- IMHO--- POOR QUALITY ITEM. I called Kuryakyn and they are warrantied..GOOD LUCK...

  5. I have a 09 rsv and had a set of risers and lowering kit installed....but due to being a (Senior)(66) I've went with a trike kit....can't use either now...the risers...no cable change..the lowering kit is about 1-1 1/2"...have Bubs on and no drag problem..e-mail me we can talk...long_black_train@cableone.net......Carl:farmer:

  6. Here's a link to Hannigan's price list, they call them foot fairings. I didn't get them when I had the conversion but they do look good. I rode one that had them and like 1-Up said it's hard to back up unless your legs are really long.

Thanks GunnyButch for the price list....will have to get some of the "moth ball money out":rotf::banana:...oh well you can't go without it...but you can't take it with you...:rotfl:...Carl

  7. Hello Everyone,

I'm just about to become a new owner of a 2000 model XVZ1300A Yamaha Royal Venture Star. I'm already having some problems over here regards being able to get accessories for the bike. Its not very popular in this country and Yamaha Europe are beginning to discontinue the parts that I can see advertised from the star accessories web site.

I am wondering if you can advise if there is a source for accessories for the bike in the US that would ship things to the UK........

These are the parts that I would be interested in getting for the bike.

    Front passing lamps

Hello BikeDaft2...I haven't got the parts your looking for..but I have all the parts from my trikeout...if you or any of the forum members know of anyone that needs these parts for a rebuild there for sale.......Carl...........

  8. I am reposting this here to answer some questions in other threads.

The Avon Cobra I am running on the frount is 150/80R/16 radial frount tire.

I bought mine from Bikebandit.com, it was 164.95 Plus 7.95 shipping.

    they ship fast too.

For me this is one of the best things I have done for the RSV, it seems to solve all of the handling problems, and rides great.

I do have the kumho ct on back, its a great combo.

I really believe that the RSV needs radial tires.

I am reposting pictures of mine mounted on the 2004, I will check with Micky he has my 2000 which has the cobra and nexum, to see how many miles he has on it now.

    Gregg

I just triked mine..I wonder how this tire would work with a 5% rake on the front????Has any trikers tried it yet...Have been told the front tire wears a lot more on the sidewall when you trike it out????????????....Thanks...Carl...:fingers-crossed-emo

  9. DITTO! You are not looking at the trike running boards, are you?

    :farmer:

Yup...those are what I'm looking for...I have looked on the Hannagan web site but all they list is with the kit only...not individual..but have a dealer a few miles away..I'll call them and check there..Thanks a Lot......Carl:fingers-crossed-emo

  10. The vibration I'm experiencing is not on acceleration, it's a high frequency vibration at cruising speed. Kind of a buzzy feeling.

I had a vibration in my 09 RSV at about 500m..took it to dealer and he found the head space bearing a little loose...tightened it and all is well now...9800m..I noticed it at highway speeds in cruise and a little more noticeable on de-exceleration...Hope this might add to help find the soluation...Carl....Take Care...:322:

  11. I'm interested in converting my RSV to a trike. Who makes Kits that I can install at home? Beside Triwing and Voyager?

Any input on things is appreciated.

Reaney..I looked for over a year for the same thing....Everyone here is quite right....Tri-Wing and Voyager is all there is at this time...I talked to C S C and MotorTrike and they both told me (maybe) next year.....but as i told CSC (maybe) doesn't help us now......On the Tri-Wing I've learned there is a little custom fitment to be done on the upper opening and trunk lid...Good Luck with yours...Carl

  12. Hi all...just reading a few past info's...thought I might toss this in the hat..there is a torque grease called "NEVER SEIGE" civilian term or "ANTI-SEIGE" military term...can pick it up in the "GRAY" mix at wally world...holds the torque applied on a bolt-nut nearly for ever..the composition is not the same a lot-tite...the military uses it on everything that can come loose...I used it for 20 yrs while I was in and ever sinse...4 yammers.650-1100-1900-RSV now..no problems at all...Carl:thumbsup2:

  13. If it helps any my 90 VR gets between 25-28 average in town and on the highway. As was noted my mpg really drops at highway speed. Oh, by the way mine is a trike, more weight and more surface area with the trike but as others have said I like to ride and the trike is a lot easier on old legs.

Hello Winesap7...My fiberglass man and I are mulling an idea of making wind deflectors to mount on the front of the trike body so the wind will be deflected outward instead of a blunt face catching the wind...He has 30+ yrs with glass and seems to think it will work..and give the body a more sweeping design...I have the design drawn...now it's his turn to put it in practability with glass...Have a Good Day:rudolf:

  14. I have (at work) a picture of a reverse set up for anything with a driveshaft. It is quite simple. A car flywheel is mounted to the pinion. Then the starter is positioned on a bracket so it meshes to flywheel. A push button engages starter, and starter turns flywheel which turns pinion. I would think it may be a bit noisy, but it would make the trike reverse. I'll try to get pic posted in near future.

    :178:

what is ballpark price for getting the flywheel balanced and how much of the pumkin pinion would have to be balanced? Thank You

  15. try a smaller tire like a avon venom it made a big change in the steering

on my 06 triwing trike. as for a rake kits I have not found one for a rsv:080402gudl_prv:

Mr. Andrews Tri-Wing can rake your triple tree...5 degrees...long_black_train

  16. Hi Carbon One...I've just bought a Tri-Wing kit...awaiting shipment...One (MAJOR) concern I have is POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO...Is there any news floating out there as how to pump the power up a bit???...and will the REVERSE project I've read about here on the forum work???...Thank You....long_black_train
