  1. Ok so i found a shop in Maine that has a 53 Ford pick-up 60” long x 26” wide x 24” high and it weighs about 35 Lbs. They are made with fiberglass and look like this. for 375.00 plus a HF trailer bed I could be well on my way to a one of a kind trailer for less than 1000.00 bucks. Now if I could carve out some time and get over the fear of starting something I can't finish. what do you think is it worth the effort?

  2. Thanks for the input. I guess I need to get around to the local shops and see if anyone has just a hull laying around somewhere. google has failed me and just will not tell me how much a hull weighs. I did find these which would also be a cool top to a trailer.

I don't know what they cost but they would make a cool trailer. I will have to wait for them to get back to me.

If I build a trailer I want to make it a true one of a kind and avoid the typical HF trailer with a car top carrier. That is just not my thing. I am thinking of using the HF platform to start from but I want to make it a conversation piece along with being functional and something out of the ordinary.

  3. Ok, I have been thinking about building my own trailer. I have been trying to come up with something unique but not break the bank. So instead of the car top shell on a trailer, I was thinking of using an old jet ski hull. Some thing like this

What do you guys think? would it be to heavy? I figure a good strong fiberglass hull would be easy to convert into a trailer shell not to mention it would look pretty cool being towed behind the bike. Thoughts??

  4. I just got my SMH10 all paired up and can't wait to try them out this weekend. They work pretty great around the house and I am looking forward to having the phone function while motoring down the road. I do think i will have to add the sm10 some time soon. it would be nice to have the radio and CB with out the cord also.

  5. I recently put these on my bike

They look awsome. It is a million color system and has 13 different modes of operation. you can have them cycle thru all the colors or just pick the one you like best. The music mode will actually pick up the bass and flash with the music. And it all can be controlled with a remote control. They were also great people to deal with when I had questions.

  6. The rails come with rubber bushings for that purpose. Without those, you could make some out of a tire tube (but I think it would take several layers to be thick enough), the thin part of a tire sidewall down near the bead, or just go to Ace Hardware and get creative. I'd bet you could find a nylon bushing that would be about the right diameter that you could simply cut in half to make two clam shell inserts.

Electrical tape would work, but heat and age makes that stuff get gooey and nasty, so I would avoid it. Maybe the best solution would be some self-vulcanizing silicone tape (Atomic tape is one brand). This stuff has no glue at all, it just sticks to itself when stretched. Get the black color and wrap it as thick as you need, clamp the shell on right in the middle of the tape, then use a razor blade to cut the tape off smooth with the edge of the light. I think that might even look better than the stock rubber bushings that don't always stay in place.

There are several ways to make them blink. The easiest is usually to just connect the ground lead to the turn signal hot; if you have regular bulbs in the turn signals, the running lights will get the ground through them for normal lights, and then blink off when the turn signals come on. An alternative is to connect them through a normally-closed micro relay (Radio Shack), and power the relay from the turn signals so that it opens up when the turn signals blink on. :080402gudl_prv:

So if i understand this right? the ground lead goes to the blinker hot and the other lead would go to the brake light hot? Wired like this the reflectors will blink opposite of the regular blinkers? Do you really think a relay is required for such a light load? Thanks again

  7. I have 2 questions. The first is about the rear side reflectors that mount on the crash bar. I have installed the saddle bag trim rails which are of a smaller diameter then the crash bar. I have seen that many of you have the reflectors installed on the saddlebag trim rails so what was used to make up the difference so the reflectors stay in place?

Also I have gotten the LED conversion reflector replacements. has anyone wired these up to run as running lights and then blink when the turn signal is on? If so any help would be appriciated.

  8. I understand the power is coming to the lights from the battery via the relay. but when i am driving down the road and the lights are on then the lights become a constant draw on the battery. so my question is, doesn't this drain the battery? Maybe i am miss understanding something. the stator coil generates the bikes electricity when the motor is running and the battery is used when the motor is off. so if i am pulling from the battery with the motor on and off won't this drain the battery? Maybe the stator coil makes up for this?

  9. I have gotten the clutch resivor 3 switch by kurykan to control the lights. I am curious though on the use of the relay. I am now understanding how the ignition works the relay but if the lights are running directly from the battery vice the stator coil wouldn't it continue to drain the battery or does the power from the stator coil continue to charge the battery while the lights are on?

  10. I got my passing lamps from Santa and was getting ready to install them today but I decided I didn't like the switch that came with them so I stopped the install and started shopping. I was wondering what size handle bars are on the Venture? Also I was wondering if anyone has one of these(http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=3099&categoryID=1692) installed and how it worked for them. I am kinda torn between that one and this one (http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=935&categoryID=1692). Any suggestions would be appriciated.

  11. When I bought my 09' RSV last month, it came with the cable installed to the left saddlebag. The dealer had to order the CD changer for installation.(so much for being standard on the 09') I didn't let them install it and I have all 3 pieces brand new in the packaging. (the changer, the mounting bracket, and the rubber dampner that goes around the CD changer.) I was also thinking of listing on E-bay but the ones on there never seem to have any bidders. I think CD's have become a thing of the past.

  12. The 09' comes with the cable already run into the right saddlebag but the player isnt' installed. as far as the pictures on Yamaha's website goes it doesn't show the mounting bracket or where exactly it is mounted in the bag. Thanks though. Looking at the bracket it is only a single screw that holds the bracket in place.

  13. I bought my 09' about 3 weeks ago and the bike comes without the cd player installed. The dealership has to order the players and then install it for you all on yamaha's bill. My CD player is now in at the dealer and I was thinking of just picking it up and selling it off before it ever comes out of the box. It comes with a storage bracket and a rubber isolation case to go around the player. What I am looking for is a picture of the CD player installed in the right saddle bag like it is suppose to be on the 09'. Can anybody help?
