  1. just had to post...gonna blame this one on the gremlins... I have no idea what happened to the old one. It's said the "Due to the location of the main fuse/solenoid assembly, it is somewhat exposed to road splash from the rear tire. There have been reports of severe corrosion of the main fuse contacts causing complete loss of electrical power on some bikes. In many of the cases, replacement of the solenoid/fuse assembly was required. If you do a lot of riding in the rain, it would be a good idea to inspect the main fuse connections occasionally to avoid having problems on the road."

  2. Hey everyone, anyone have a colour picture of the main 30AMP fuse found behind the clutch side passenger FB? finally getting some consistent riding weather and when i went to start up my 08 to my surprise I had no ignition let alone any power??? So following protocol, I searched the vast resources found here and began to source out possible issues. tested the battery, no other issues found,... so decided to venture to the main fuse and found this;

  3. Hey Andy, I ride the Dragon once a year and at first I was intimidated by the video’s, talks, stories, bla, bla, bla, but doing a little research in the beginning and I even went as far as getting the Ride Like a Pro on The Dragon, Deals Gap DVD, it built up some confidence but it was still a rush. My first time down, just took my time, I think it was a Monday so not too many other riders around. We have a few roads up this way like the Dragon, just not as aggressive or switchbacks. Go on a weekday, avoid weekends, too many organ donors. Blue Ridge parkway is a must, also WAYAH Road is a must, actually the whole area is nice, just take your time. I would consider myself a good rider, you have to be one with the RSV. Like I said, I take rip down once a year from Ontario, do my ONE Dragon tail (it’s just bragging rights) and then I set out exploring…enjoy!:080402gudl_prv:

  4. Just so there is a follow up...ordered part #90338-11152-00 which comes in packs of one!(must be a Canadian thing) Took off the fin and good call..simple fix, pulled out the old plug, ohh and BTW for those who might forget... there is antifreeze on the other side of the plug so be quick with your thumb or the new plug. popped the new one in, slapped a piece of duct tape (cant hurtm, right BuddyRich?) and off to the next project....:cool10:

  5. Sooooo. weeks before my 5 year warranty ends (September 2012) on my 08, my radio starts acting “wonky”, locking up , no power, volume out of control , screen fading, thought at first it was possessed :shock3:, so I took her in ( I had replaced the controller a year back (under warranty) and have not had any issues with audio till this fun started) Dealer agreed it was the AMP and ordered one for me:cool10:. Patiently waited for the unit to come in as the snow began to fall, then…. good news it had arrived (January 2013). Fly in, swap units and out of the dealership I go to the man cave to install it, get it home and Whoaaaaaa…. this isn’t new, it a-a-a-a-a-a refurbished AMP. :mad:Took a deep breath and called the dealership…”So sorry to hear that, we never opened the box, bring it back on Monday and we’ll order a new one”. But since I had it in hand, let’s have some fun…hooked it up and great…back in business…BUT WAIT (saw that coming…..) the Intercom and CB (with the headset) are not working (not like I use them lots but still, now we’re dealing with principle vs anger management) NOW WHAT?…of course…. searched the vast resource and posts of Venturerider…. and followed, traced tested all the connections still no intercom/CB, was going to use dielectric grease on the connectors from the AMP but why explain the mess come Monday…. this is where I’m in need of some help/advice/suggestions….

    A) :confused24:Not that I can read electrical diagrams, but am I wrong to presume the AMP controls the output to the intercom and CB???? Or do I have other issues now (bike related)?:confused07:

    But wait it gets better, calmly I wait…….till a few days a go, I get a call saying that Clarion wont honour the warranty on any Venture with a “NEW” AMP after a year of use but will happily provide a refurbished one:soapbox:….now were are dealing with anger management vs principle. Dealership won’t help even after I went right to the top…. stating Yamaha/Clarion warranty fine print not my issue. So the new refurbished AMP arrives Tuesday …… Good times!

  6. I have two Drift’s, bought one and was so impressed I got the other shortly afterwards. One mounted at the front (handlebars) and the other at the back off he antenna, take them everywhere. The GoPro I found was too “toy like” and too much to figure out. The contour was my first pick in the beginning but like pickinfred, the screen and remote sold me. To each their own I guess.

  7. I got the Drift HD (little pricey) and been using it for a while, haven’t had any issues with it and very happy, like the sturdy design, little screen play-back and even better on a big screen, attached is a "still" from a video I did in the fall of 2010 (cant play the video online…trademark issues apparently with the music:confused24:).
