  1. I have an 86 venture royals (1300). Battery is 2 or 3 years old and no longer seems to take or hold a charge like it should. Still has the sensor and kind of like to keep it original. Anybody got recommendations on a good battery?

  2. My hat is off to you YamahaLarry....the kids like that would absolutely kill me....at least Justin was grown...27 at the time of his accident.

Justin is still improving though slower now....It is almost hunting season and he is all AMPED up....WE almost got his new box stand built and he has always loved to hunt..I'll have to post some pic of it...I was scared to death last year until he shot his rifle for the first time....was afraid of what the recoil would do to him...but once again...he surprised me...and had it reloaded by himself like right now!...

  3. :whistling:...the good news is...I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak....even if it did take me a week to do what I use to in two or three days way back when...lol...evidently I must be doing a lot better job of it these days is why it is taking me a lot longer.....my story and I'm sticking to it...LOL
  4. So....Lately my wife has been working me like a borrowed tractor...lol...one of my many to do list things was to re-seal the whole exterior of our house....so two weeks into it...tired, aching muscles and in general worn out....I was thinking,...man this didn't use to take such a toll on me like this....just getting old indeed....then I realized it not the work wearing me out so....it is the..."go back trips.." to go back and get what I forgot....two or three times the mileage in steps...LOL

  5. Little help.....A while back I had trouble with front brake switch and was directed to a very good...."How to"....disassemble that switch and clean and service it.....is there a similar thread on the kick stand switch...?

    "86 VR....thanks Roy

  6. I hear you about the money very tight....but I would recommend the small battery charger/tender like the one My Brother and wife gave me for my bikes batteries....from Sears....like 30 ish bucks....nice setup. .....unless your battery has a lot of age on it.....it brought both mine from dead back to life again by de-sulfication...and then charging when done...all automatic...ain't fast....at 2 amps...takes a while but works very good and has a cig lighter charge cord and clips and another flat 2 prong type. Fresh acid or electrolyte might help it a lot also. Good luck

  7. ...I know that many have cautioned you about the 1st gen as a first bike...but I just got to say....it had been about 20 years since I had rode a bike...and never one so heavy....I did buy a 750 virago and rode it a year cause it was cheap and figured if I got skinned, scared of it or killed I didn't need a lot of money tied up in it.....the '83 virago is a WORLD of difference in the way it handles and the 800lb. venture....much lower center of gravity and much more forgiving at slow speed....also it is light enough if you get into trouble with it you can Muscle" your way out of it.....unless you have green skin (the HULK) ...you ain't doing that with the Venture so much. Now...don't get me wrong...I love my '86 Venture...but honestly...even after many hours of seat time on it....slow speed makes me edgy....Please be EXTREMELY careful till you get so time with it....then just really, really careful any time you get close to it...lol....the gut sold mine to me cause it got on him in his garage....he was moving it and he didn't sweep the floor first that time and his foot slipped. I have had more near misses at slow speed....coming to a stop or while stopped than any other time...especially if me wife is on and moves unexpectedly (big caution on that one,...in her mind was safer to move or do stuff at slow speed or stopped....worst possible time)

  8. Sorry to hear about your job concerns....Was going to suggest our area....Huntsville is a high tech town....always need engineers....but does get hot here in the summer.....but if you don't have health problems...you can adjust in a little while.....20F is cold here....-20F is insane! LOL

Oh....thanks for the info....looks like gonna need the neck...so instead od messing with it a bunch....ordered the orings and neck....just gonna be nice to it till they get here.
