I have the same need/desires. Thought about acquiring an older Q2 and mating it to a cb (that I have yet to acquire) . Cutting off the microphone and connecting to the cb output (headphone) and cutting off the headphone(s) and connecting to the cb microphone input.
Could insert amplifiers or attenuator pads to match signal levels. Would take a bit of work but should come in significantly lower than $1G. Not an elegant solution...PPT button or VOX would need to be worked in somewhere but I don't see any show stoppers.....just money. My only heartburn with this concept is that Scala batteries won't last a whole day and they can't be easily replaced. There must be many riders out there that don't ride ventures/wings/or hogs and could use a solution.
Maybe someday bluetooth will be up to it but in a lengthy transition period right now !!! And cb is still the old universal solution.

Merry Christmas and best wishes in the New Year to you Don and your family, and to everyone here. You host a wonderful site.

Had one fall out last year. Didn't know about the spare bolts in the covers.
Saskatchewan Chrome (duct tape) held it on for a couple of weeks while
waiting for the ordered bolt to arrive.

Thanks for the update Don.
Best wishes and hope you are on the road to recovery.

Picked up an Alpinestars areo tech tank bag today.
Happy with it on a 60 mile ride today on my 05 RSTD.

I figured it out. Last year rode off the pavement and caught some shoulder gravel on
the side stand side. The side stand was jammed and had to put a heavy boot to
get it to come down. Must have bent the loop. Now it's closer to factory position.
Thanks all for you help.

Front shocks 6#s, rear about 40#s. Guess I'll have to make some
changes to my riding style ( if there was any before - lol).

Taking a right hand corner with plenty of lean my spring loaded right floor board drags.
Taking a left corner with plenty of lean the boot loop on the kick stand (it is fully up) drags
and recently caused the back wheel to hop right a few inches. That was a little unsettling.
Didn't pay much attention for location of wear and tear until that wheel hop thing.
After examining the kickstand loop. it appears that the bottom side is now about
half worn through.
Am I way too aggressive in the corners? lol
Is my experience normal or is there something wrong with the kick stand or something else?

Don,
I mailed you a cheque some time ago but don't think that 'supporting member'
is being displayed. Had sent a pm at the time of mailing.
Thanks,

I have the rear wheel off to install a Car tire on it and I thought I would grease the Hub pins while its off. However... I can't get them out.
They won't budge even a little. I've tried the dual Pry bar... Tried WD40 and a hammer...
Is there a trick I don't know? I soaked it down with WD40 before calling it a night. Hopefully tomorrow it will come loose.
There is a c-clip that you have to remove first.

Thank you Piper. Will take a closer look.

Thanks RR for the reply. Actually have a venture beside it and it does appear to be different. Wondering if one is hidden under the rubber boot or if Yamaha added one in subsequent year models.

Have the back wheel off my 05 RSTD. Want to lube the drive shaft ends. Is there an access plug/hole at the u-joint to help get the drive shaft back in place? Do I have to retract the rubber boot? Would like to know before getting a lifetime sentence trying to put it back together.
Thanks,
Jack

Wow, installed the horn today. Has a grrrrrrrrreat sound and is loud.
Thanks to all those on the forum that have provided guidelines and
advice. Worked first time!!!!
Bought the bracket from Carbon One and the horn and wiring harness from Twisted Throttle. Cut the harness to length, put the wires in a protective split-tube and
replaced the Stebel horn end connectors on the harness with right angle connectors
to keep clear of the exhast.

Many audiologists make/can get made custom ear plugs like the custom hearing aid molded piece but for hearing protection, molded ear buds like emergency services use for their radios, etc.
-
Got my hearing aids about 4 years ago. Tried five different pairs and picked the one that best gave me the best hearing. Three modes normal, narrow bandwidth for speech in noisy environments, and telephone pickup. There were noticeable differences. Still took some months until the fine tuning was complete. Not perfect but they help a lot.

Thanks Brian, I look for that in the manual.

Have had one of the buttons stick in but with a little effort got it to pop out - like it has some dirt in the clearances. Happened more than once but seems fine now. If it isn't stuck too bad might get it to pop out with the help of a pointed tool.
My 05 RSTD has a different problem with the cruise control. The symptoms:
1. the bike has to warm up for a few/many minutes before the set speed engages and takes control
2. if going about 20 kph (12 MPH) or more over the set point and engaged, then release the throttle, it coasts down right past the set point and disengages without taking control.
Seems temperature related. Is it faulty or a design feature? Any help would be appreciated. I will take it to my local dealer who has not figured it out yet.

I cast my vote. Good luck!

My dealer didn't know anything about this connector (no one had every asked).
Contacted Yamaha Canada through their web page and they sent me a "Tech Tips".
It has part nos. and install info. Wonder how many more of them there are.

Have an air tank (about 5 gal. without compressor) that I used to fill at the local gas station, then recently bought a compressor.
I fill the tank to 6psi from the compressor then fill the front forks with it. High volume ratio so as long as the chuck on/chuck off is quick the front forks are equal and at the pressure I want.

I just bought one and it is better than stock seat with my new firstgear air pants. (tend to slide too far forward). Waiting for some hot weather to see how good it really is. Found last year after a few hours on just stock seat that I was squirming looking for some comfort.
