Maybe you can explain what you mean by 'throttle shaft seals'. I'm kind of at loss.

Picture is for reference.  I am not sure if the carbs on an 86 Venture Royale would have these. Just curious as my XJ650 has these and were dried out causing an air leak. If the carbs do have the seals on my Venture, I am looking for a supplier.

I did the same thing on my #4 carb.  My understanding is that this is not a part that can be bought or generally found separately.  I can't say if it's easy to pull and replace one - since I couldn't source a replacement, I didn't bother trying to remove my broken one.  I did try repairing it using a bit of a brass pilot (??) jet, then JB Weld'ing it all together.  Seemed to hold just fine....until I attempted to reinstall the carb bank.  Tried a couple of times, each with the same result, so I just gave up on it.  Maybe others will have some better suggestions.

I kind of figured it wasnt a replacable part. I cannot find a listing for it anywhere, so I am just going to leave it alone. Thanks

  3. Evening,

While cleaning things up and changing plugs, I noticed both plug boots are melted on cyl 1 & 3.

I can purchase OEM, but am wondering what would be considered a good aftermarket brand (NGK)?

I have found a few posts regarding this issue, but nothing really listed with any brands being used or the pros and cons.

I have found some NGK 5KOhm boots on FortNine for under $10CDN each.

    Thanks

  4. Morning everyone,

I was removing carbs yesterday to do a thorough cleaning. Upon removal I heard a snap, but didn't see anything obvious, at first. Once fully removed I noticed one of the drain hoses lying on floor.

The hose nipple snapped off the #1 carb drain. I cannot locate a part number for this anywhere.

Do these just pull out, or unscrew from there location? I could possibly glue it back together if I can remove the piece without further damage.

    Thanks

  5. Been here a few weeks .... just purchased a new to me 86 XVZ1300DS. I have been purchasing and rebuilding 80s Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs, and trikes for about 10 years. This will be the largest and my last bike to rebuild.

Hoping to get it running and take many long trips, once all this craziness is over with in this world.

    Glad to be here
