The tab on one of the ends of mine was broken when I got it. I got some epoxy for PVC and a small piece of copper mosquito screen. Stuck it back together and used the screen as backing, filed it down to fit, drilled the hole out. So far it is solid. I hate paying that much money for a piece of plastic! I'm not sure that will help, it is what I would try first.

Thank you all again, I will change out the fluid in both clutch and brakes. Goose I would love to ride to DFW just to meet with you. I have seen a few Ventures here in Austin but on the road so haven't been able to chat.

I have the E-3s on my 03 venture, they handle well and wear good. I will stay with them. I'm on my second set. As far as the noise, it mixes with the other noises and voices in my head so no problem.

Thank you Goose, I am thinking about retireing the end of Dec. Looking to do some traveling come spring. I want to be sure everything on the bike is ready.

Hi all, my 03 venture has always jumped when I first put it in gear after sitting over night. The clutch fluid is full, I have "pumped" the clutch before putting it in gear, no change. It is like all the oil is pushed out of the clutch disks and plates while it is sitting for a while. Once I take off, no more problems for the rest of the day. I installed the PCW spring kit and all new disks. Should I be concerned??

Yup....checked what I was doing a few times, kept thinking I missed something (to easy). The hardest part was removing the old gasket. Now I have to find out about wiring for a trailer.

Just finnished installing the new clutch in my Venture. New clutch disks and PCW HD spring kit. Whoever did the last job had 3 disks in wrong and the pressure plate not lined up. Not sure if that makes all that much differance but it doesn't jerk when I put it into gear now. The clutch lever isn't much different than it was before. This was an easy install! I HAD to buy new tools to do the job right.....right. Once again thank you all very much for all the info on the clutch.

This is great! I have the PCW hd spring kit and new plates. Was getting out of the way of a car and when I twisted the wick, engine reved and took a second to catch. I got out of the way of the car but now the seat has a hole in it ;-). This is the first time to replace clutches in this bike. Do I have to remove the exhaust to get into the clutch? Is there anything I need to watch out for?

I never used to wear one. A few years back I decided to start wearing a helmet. Now it is 100%.
I lost a close friend that got hit by someone crossing lanes to get off the hiway. He was wearing one of the "German war helmets" with the snap clip to hold it on. When he was hit the snap came loose and the helmet took off. Except for the head damage Dick only had brusises. Had he had a good helmet on he would be alive today.
Wear a good helmet.

Hi all, well I installed the 88 final drive in my 03 Venture and it is great! The 88 does not have the boss for the speedo sensor but it did work. The o-ring sits really close to the curved edge of the housing and I had to use 3 small stainless washers to make up the distance from the housing to the sensor where the screw goes. So far no problems. I did have to use a piece of rebar to hold up the yoke in the drive tube and then put a length of alum bar stock under it to hold it up to get the drive shaft in place. This final drive is much tighter than the stock one I took out (a lot of wear on the stock unit) no more slack and that is nice. Anyway I hope everyone is having a great Christmas.
After I got the 88 unit for $99 I found a 99 unit for $99, came real close to buying it too.

Once again ya'll have come through. I will check out the machine work first, I have a friend with a macine shop. Hoping my E-3 will be in soon so I can get started. Can't put it down right now, wife is still home and she wants to ride.
Thanks again.

I have decided to go to a V-max final drive on my '03
Venture.
I have found some but either to much wear or way to expensive. I did come across an '88 final drive in good shape but I don't know if it will fit. Also I am looking to change out the gears and not the whole unit. I haven't done this before and I figure someone here will know. Ya'll have always come through for me.
Thank you.

What is the rear tire size for the Dunlop Elite 3?????? Is it different than the stock? I put the smaller e-3 on the front and I love it. Now it is time for the rear and I am trying to find one on-line (I have access to tire equipment). Thank you in advance, always great advice here. '03 Venture

Will a 97 v-max final drive fit an 03 midnight venture and if so is it worth the swap? Thank you.

If this is the right way to do this it is the pictures of the venture for sale.
I have a 2nd gen trans-am too (I like the improved models).

Sorry to hear about your friends, they are in my prayers.

I have the Gerbing gloves and I love them. I think they pull 2.2 amps. They have elements on each finger and they are not as bulky as some of the others. If I can keep my hands warm I am good to go.

If I get a chance I will get some pictures and post them.
It is a purdy bike but I have 1 midnight venture. Don't need another one (at least not right now).
