  1. Sounds like the Bozo's here in Flint, I have to go 40 miles one way to Oxford to talk to someone who really gives a rip. My choice, but I'd rather talk to someone with a few active brain cells if you know what I mean.

    Gary

I'm in Flint area also and I agree. The dealership on Miller Rd. is the same as it was when it was on Fenton rd.. The only thing that changed was the location. You can roam around in their showroom for 30 min. or more before someone talks to you.

  2. I did not mean to imply that union members are not honest hard working people. I will bet anybody who has worked in an auto factory could write a book about the waste they have seen and know of many people who should have been fired but could not be fired. Those things have been a contributing factor in the inability of the american auto industry to compete. Its not my responsibility to bail them out and I believe if they can't make money they should fail.

So do you think we should bail out the banking industry? It seems to me that thier CEOs wasted tons of money. But that's different, right?

  3. darn i never figured i made that much as an auto worker. i worked my ass off as an auto worker for thirty years, can't hardly walk, backs shot, worked 12 hrs a day 7 days a week out side , no weather clause most of the years i was there. the rest of the time i was layed off due to recessions, ain't much left of this old fart physically, i hurt from head to foot 24 ,seven. i earned my money and i earned this great retirement. no one ever gave me nothin and i never asked for nothin. i worked alot harder than fat butt ted kennedy ever did in his life and most of the people like him. i deserved what i earned.and i don't owe no one any apologies for what i got. i ain't lazy and i will take on any task. sorry i just had to air that out. get tired of people telling me it's my fault the economies screwed up. snarley bill[/quo

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm a GM retiree also. Yes GM and the Union provided me with a pretty good living, but to get it, I had to "suit up and show up" everyday. Not everyone can do the same thing everyday, 100 times an hour, 8 to 12 hours a day. I ended up leaving after 33 yrs. with a limp from a crushed foot and ankle, and carpul tunnel.

Most that haven't worked in the factories want to blame the unions, but it just wasn't the unions. And also what some don't understand, is that if it wasn't for the unions getting us our wages and benifits the rest of the non-union workers around the country wouldn't have gotten wage increases and benifits. Do you really think that companys just give that because they like to?

Ok, I'll get down off my soap box now.

  4. I had a chance to ride with another Venture today that was identical to mine but with MANY more toys on it. So, I got to see what mine would look like with lots of toys.

He had aftermarket pipes on it that sounded pretty good. He said they are Sampson slipons but didn't remember the model of the pipes. He said he bought them because he wanted Fishtails. I really liked them because they weren't overly loud, but had a nice tone to them.

I thought I would ask opinions on a couple of forums about Sampson. Do any of you have experience with them - good or bad? How is their quality?

    craigr

I've had Samson full systems, and just slip on mufflers on some of my HDs over the years and they are a very good quality product. Never had a problem with them.

  5. I always go for 2 weeks. No real plans yet, except to get down to Fl. and get a lot of riding in. Only thing that I really plan is to make it to another friend's Pig Roast out in the Mondex outside of Bunnell. We've got plenty of time to plan a meet tho.

  6. I went back to the dealership this morning and by chance, the Dist. Rep. was there from Yamaha. I explained to him about "THE GHOST IN THE RADIO" and he oked the dealer to put on a new controler. Dealer already had the new controler there just waiting for the ok from Yamaha. So they swapped out the controler. It took a couple hours while I waited.

  7. I'm trying to get the dealership to fix my radio on my 07 RSV. Yamaha says it's a Clairion problem, the dealer can't seem to get a response from Clairion, so I want to call Yamaha Corp. and see if I can get a fire lit under them. Does anyone have the phone number to Yamaha Corp. and maybe a name of someone that I might be able to talk to?

  8. In 1990 I bought a brand new HD FLHS, rode it for 14 yrs. and put 135,000 miles on it. Rebuilt the engine at 52,000 miles but when I sold it, it had 135,000 on the odometer. I'm hoping to get the same kind of mileage out of my 07 RSV without the rebuild of course.

  9. I just installed a set of Elite 3's on my 07 RSV. I only got 8,300 miles on the stock Bridgestones, didn't like them anyway. First impressions of the Elite 3's, in stock sizes, F&R: Low speed handling much improved, great on pavement with rain grooves, seems to hold the road much better in curves, corners alot better, also they don't growl like the Bridgestones. All in all they handle alot better than the OEM Bridgestones. Also I bought them through SW Moto. Blaine seemed easy to work with, the whole transaction went quit well. I'll keep you updated on my impressions as I get more miles on them. Only got to put on about 100 miles today, but so far so good.

  10. I have the common chirp, now I have a new sound at or above 70 it sounds like an old ford truck rear noise or a cement mixer . The dealer said it was the rear greased and realigned shafts. Noise a bit better but still there it actually sounds as if it from the front but hard to tell. On a curve when leaning it is louder . Can anyone provide any suggestions, is this common and is it safe ? 2006 rstd with 9000 miles . Thanks for any info you can provide.

Sounds like the stock Bridgestone tires to me also.

  11. If OCC is so patriotic, how come they always use Rev Tech engines in their bikes? Rev Tech are made in NORTH KOREA, a Communist country. I asked Paul Sr. that question at Bike Week two years ago, and he just glared at me and walked away. Seems he didn't want to talk about it.

  12. Flint, Mi. has the worst crime rate in the country and all this cop has to do is to out tickets for Novelty Helmets. He tied himself up for almost an hour. No dought, someone during that time was getting victimized by some thug. But he was "keeping the city safe" by giving me a ticket for a novelty helmet?

  13. Here's one to think about. I just recently got a ticket in the city of Flint, Mi. for wearing a helmet ! It was a novelty helmet but it was still a helmet. The cop was a real A__hole too. Wouldn't just give me a ticket and let me leave. OH NO!! He told me I had to call someone to bring me a "DOT Helmet" or he was going to impound my bike. He wrote the ticket for No Helmet. I'm going to fight this one even if I have to go to the Mi. Supreme Court.

  14. I sat on a Cross Bones at a dealership in Ohio, and really didn't care for the feel of it. When I sat on it and pulled it up off the kick stand it felt very bulky. Maybe when you ride one it is different. Sure does look good though.

  15. Well after looking around the I found out the Morgan comes from the UK and I'm not really sure what 65 pounds is in US dollars but I'm sure the exchange ain't good. I found a motion Pro for $102.00 but it doesn't come with the 6mm adapters and I'm guessing that's what we need.

I have the Motion Pro and you don't need the adapters. The hoses that come with it fit just fine.

  16. What is she riding? I'm going to guess about a '98 Royal Star?

She's riding a 99 TD. I bought it on e-bay in 04, and it only had 3,000 miles on it. I think the guy I bought it from in New Jersey went down on it and got scared and parked it. The wife loves it. Already had the Baron's rear lowing kit on it when I bought it.
