  1. I had the Butler mod done on my seat.... It didn't work for me. I hade intense tailbone pain before AND after the Butler mod.... then I tried a saddlemen road sofa (hard as a brick)... now I have a russell daylong.... and I LOVE it!!! Rode 6500 miles in 2 weeks last year and this year we did 4300 miles in ONE week.... Minimal Tailbone discomfort!!! No discomfort on the first trip... slight discomfort on the second... maybe due to the miles Versus time issue... might be due to me losing 35 + pounds.... The seat is custom made for YOU!!!!!! I HIGHLY recommend it. That being said... for the money, try the Butler mod first!!! It works well for a LOT of the people here!!!!

  2. On my last trip I put a 2 1/2 gallon gas can in the "Cooler" storage bay of my time out trailer. I hooked a rubber hose to the gas can vent nipple and drilled a hole in the back of the cooler storage area to allow for expansion from heat. It never leaked , siphoned out or expanded the can. Worked PERFECTLY!!!

  3. No.... no "vacuum" sound when releasing the fuel cap..... The thing that bothers me ...is that the fuel pump was clicking very slowly.... Normally, in the morning, it will click very quickly and slow down as it builds pressure (right?)... so if it was starved for gas... wouldn't it have clicked very quickly????? ( Is my thinking right on this??? or am I confused...again??)

  4. So... I was riding home ('08 with 30k miles) from work this evening... and out of the blue, It acts like it's running out of fuel. Spitting and sputtering and finally just died. I took off the fuel cap and peeked in the tank... PLENTY of gas. Cycled the key... heard the fuel pump running... but it was running "slowly".... after several attempts and key cycles.... she fired up and ran fine the rest of the way home..... anybody have any Ideas???? I checked the battery connections and they were tight. Not sure what else to check...especially since it runs FINE now...... :confused24: I know it's under warrenty.... but if I bring it in... they won't find anything since it's running fine now.....

  5. Hey Warrior, I was in the same situation as you. The pillow top didn't work for me but the wife LOVED it. First I had the driver's seat redone several times by a buddy that owns a Auto trim shop... no good, Then I had Rick Butler do his Mod on my seat... a lot better, but still wasn't happy (no offence to Rick, a LOT of people LOVE his seat mod and it's well worth the money to see if it'll work for YOU). Next, I tried the saddlemen Road Sofa... worked for me, but the wife HATED it!!! So... I ordered a Russel Day Long seat. Had them build the front seat custom for me, and they just recovered the wifes seat, with NO change to the cushion, to match my NEW rider's seat.... now, FINNALLY, we are BOTH happy!!!! And if I recall... it was less than 600 bucks.

  6. Ok.... so I towed the trailer on a small trip... 260 miles each way.. to visit a cousin and see how it towed. I left home with 15psi in the tires.. I had to refill with fuel at only 110 miles on a full tank!! Thought maybe I hadn't filled as much as usuall so THIS time filled 'er ALL the way up..... 1 bar on the guage at 105 miles. UUUGH!!! Was very dissapointed. Trailer towed great though... nice and smooth. THEN, on the way home, I put 35 psi in the trailer tires........ 157 miles on a tankful with 1 bar left on the guage. Made it home on that tank with 1/3 of a tank still left..... I think I'll leave 'em at 35. Still towed great. hit the bumps a "little" harder.... but not bad. Thanks again for all your input. Thought you mike like to hear my findings.......

  7. Thanks for the detailed explanation VGoose!!! NOW... I DO "get it". As I was reading your comment I was thinking... "OH YEA!!!" And you were correct in thingking that I was relating it to car tires.... I've been a mechanic for 25+ years.....

Thanks again... well done on the explanation.. :clap2:
