I would love to see updates on this. I ran a CT on my Gen 2 for 20K or more. Only reason for the change back to an MC was a break down on a trip and the shop it was towed to would not even work on it with a CT. I would go back to a CT without hesitation if I have solid references to a CT Brand/Model.
Asked and answered...
I still don't understand this tool turning the photo... anyway 3000 miles on the darkside on this tire and with all the dang rain only 3000 miles on this tire so far but still 8/32 tread in all grooves.

Good morning, looking for the nut size. I found the torque spec 85LB Ft in the manual but not the nut size I don't have a socket that large currently. it is loose and a long way to a dealer.... better if I can go purchase the socket but what size I'm guessing about 35MM but not sure?

Well Freebird... apparently Rumbling pride no longer honors the code posted. "invalid coupon code" is the message.... so still paying full price and the full shipping price.

So I got these high-way pegs in the mail yesterday. Did you have to cut or trim the plastic to get them to fit? Could you possibly post some more close-up pictures to see how you did the install?
Great post by the way. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon14.png
Good Morning,
So, I found that the clamps were not tight enough when clamped to the engine guards; So I drilled a single hole through both the clamp and the engine guard and tapped the hole at 1/4" x 20 and then threaded and tightened the round head screw to prevent any twisting. No, I did not have any need to cut the plastic.

The link below shows several of my early mods including highway pegs

I don't see where it mentions that being a run flat? Not sure if it would matter to me but just curious. $58.00 a tire is certainly a great price. It shows an overall height of 24.9. That should be OK too. Let us know how it works out for you.
You are correct this tire is not a run flat. I may look into one next time. so far 700 miles and great ride

This is great news. There are at least two bikes now that have done this size so I don't expect not to use the 205 when I replace my OEM. Do you realize you paid $300. less than a new OEM from a dealer? In addition, I suspect the tire will outperform the mc tire in all aspects.
(By the way, was it easier to get the wheel off with your bike laying on its side?)

I turned the whole garage on its side

Thanks for the info. Is his Venture an '18? He speaks of changing every year. Older Ventures may not have the same clearance.

Look closely at his photos, earlier version of the Venture was shaft drive, his photos show the right side belt drive

Well, despite my vocal opposition to “Darksiding”; after watching closely from the rear and 80 y/o guy tear up the corners in Maggie Valley on a “Darksided” 09 Stratoliner I was really impressed. Did the research for a tire and found one but can’t find ANY MC or tire shop near me who will put it on the rim. 🤨
I’m over 13k miles and due for a rear tire but DO NOT want to pay $300+ for a tire.
if I have to stick with a MC tire I’ve found a much larger selection available if I’m will to go with 200/60r16 instead of the stock 200/55r16.
Any comments of suggestions??

That tire has the exact dimensions as I wanted and hoped it would fit. Have you actually put the tire on yet?

Her ya go...
and YES these are on my 2018 SVTC rides great. this the second bike on which I've gone to the dark side. Love it, better braking, traction, and more sure footed one my one mile of sandy dirt road in S.E. GA I also used Dyna Beads to balance the tire... Love these.
-
The one on the SVTV is built into the inside of the rim where the valve stem attaches. I could see any kind of “goopy” tire sealant totally messing that up.
YOu are incorrect, the TPMS is not located near the valve stem, it is actually located 180 degess from the valve stem and CAUTION! very clearly explain this to any shop doing tire work on your tires. I took my rear wheel to the tire shop yesturday morning to have my car tire mounted, sooner than I planned as I ran over a screw. long story short they broke off the TPMS sensor. Now I have no wheel until they get it fixed and then mount my tire.

The phots are of his '18 SVTC, he has had older versions too

I'm not a Facebook person, so maybe I don't know what to do, but I was accepted as a "member" or something, but I couldn't find any info about anyone who's used that sized tire on an '18 Venture. Have you tried to put it on yet? I'm interested in the clearance you have on the sides and if there's any contact on bottoming out. For sure $57. with shipping is IMPOSSIBLE to beat anywhere else. I do really want a run flat though in that size.

Do the foot pegs drag if you lay it over low in a turn?
Not that I've experienced. They are higher than the foot boards and I think you'd be down before you drag them

Not yet. I purchased it but still have a couple thousand miles on the oem tire. others have installed tires this size this has been discussed on this facebook group's page as well https://www.facebook.com/groups/781935901987573/

hmmmm .... 104,000 - 30,000 - 10,000 = so by my calculation you got 64,000 miles out of the original stock M/C tire .... shoulda stuck with them ....
that's a lot of wishfull thinking...I went through multiple motocycle tires avg 9800 mile on each one....like 7 at 220.00 each vs 2 at 68.00 each

This is the tire I purchased for my SVTC - Achilles ATR sport 205/55R16XL 94W
I used this brand and style tire on my '09 Kawasaki Voyager and of the 104,000+ miles on that bike I got 30,000+ miles out of the first one and had 10,000+ on the second when I sold the bike to buy this one

Do you have a link for those pegs? I kind of like that. Looks like just enough stretch room. Thanks!

Nice looking bike.
With Rumbling Pride....think we get a discount with them.
Wow... wish I had known that.... and thanks
-
These are the few mods I've made so far... the rechargable streamlight stinger does not obstruct two helmets in trunk, the pushbutton waterproof accessory switches are shallow draft as there is so little room under those covers, the flag mounts are from Rumbling Pride's TCM series mounts and the $70 Amazon black highway pegs, also replaced the 12v cigar plug outlet with a 4.2 amp dual usb port with weather cover. I have ordered an air horn and have the Rox 2" risers to install this weekend. Love, Love Love this bike
-
I agree with NNY, for me the ROX risers are a great option.
here is a link to the best price I found on google for the part number that will fit the SVTC
-
Those look great, and the curve on the bracket follows the bike's lines nicely! They look much better than the Kuryakyns IMO.
One note on the Black pegs from Amazon the clamps are supposed to be for 1" bars, they were a bit loose when tightened; so I tapped a hole and added a black pan head allen bolt 1/4-20 to prevent any twist of the clamps.

Thank you, it is the 36mm. I discovered that mine was finger tight at 8000 miles. I have torqued it to 85 LB Ft.
