Cool here, but no bugs. Enjoyed a 120 km evening ride. Love the sound of the HD pipes. Just enough bark under throttle, but quiet at cruising speed.😁
-
I added a set of HD pipes
Looks similar to my new ones. Haven't made a mounting bracket yet. It will be long to reach original mounting bracket, may go with a shorter one with u bolt over rear tube.

Or go with one of the mini jobs like many cars use now.
I have this one so I will probably use it. The wiring harness has some funky wire colors, but I've got it laid out on paper. Wires for LED lights and GPS all terminate near the spot, so it should work good. If I add any load in the future I will add a mini(4) fuse box in the first mounting location.
Thanks for the info.😎

Under tank kind of in middle.
Thanks for your suggestion.😁

pWhen I build my ignition by pass relays I have folks mount them under the tank.Front/back or side of frame?. I did some test fits in the area under tank on bith sides where cables and hoses came out of the protectors behind the intake crossovers and it seemed very tight.
Thanks

I've been playing around with locations to mount a relay on my 09 Venture. I've added a GPS and pulled the wires back to the battery. The previous owner added some LED strip lights under the fuel tank and I'm going to connect them to the relay too. Not much load, and my bike doesn't have driving lights. I've thought about adding a mini fuse box just below the relay so each load has its own connection point. Can't get to a parts store for a couple weeks, so that may be added later.
Any better locations close to battery to mount the relay? Pics would be appreciated.

Maybe if you post your request over on the 2nd Gen forum you might get more feedback. Doug
Asked in 2nd Gen last summer when I thought about adding a relay. Didn't get an answer, so I though I'd try again to a broader audience. 😉

So I'm adding a relay for aux LED lights and GPS. Wondering where others have mounted relays on Gen 2 bikes. Mine is 2009. Looking somewhere close to battery and I will run a wire from relay to bars for GPS so I don't have to split the fairing. Pic of where you mounted relay would be appreciated.
Thanks

Still probably 6 weeks till first ride here. I have a long gravel driveway that has about 8" of ice on it. Keeps me from riding till all the gravel is swept off the roads. Started some upgrades for this year.
1. Adding a set of 2014 HD mufflers. My stock ones were gutted by PO and are like straight pipes. Too loud at cruising speed. Will fab up new rear brackets next week.
2. Got a TomTom motorcycle GPS for Christmas. Need to decide where it will sit on the bars and where to get power to wire it up.
3. Add some aux power for extra LED accent lights under tank.
4. Swap rear brake pads while bags are off.t
5. Flush rear brakes with new fluid.
Looks like I'm adding rear brake pads to the list.

Thanks for the report. Got to love mens motorcycle sizing!! Looks like those of us with large waist and stumpy legs would be out of luck in these.
Hi allThe good people at ultimatemotorcycling.com secured for me Spidi textile pants to test. In case you were thinking about textile pants or just curious what textile pants are about, please read my report.

Looked back on old threads and most used mufflers from the early 2000 Harleys. I posted locally and have several HD take offs available from 2014 and newer Harleys. Without removing my muffler, does anyone know the ID of the muffler inlet? Has anyone tried HD mufflers from newer bikes?
Previous owner took baffles completely out of stock mufflers and it's too loud for me on the highway.
Thanks

Carbs synced last week and they were out a bit. Finally got some summer weather to go for a ride and the misfire is still there. I've ran two tanks with 1/4 Can seafoam per tank. Very noticeable at 120 kph(75 mph) and above on the freeway. It will get new fuel filter this weekend. Not looking forward to that with my big paws. LOL.

Those would be Barons 1 1/2" risers.
Thanks

The jury's still out for me on their new parts/service guy. I always seemed to get the straight goods from Jared but he's not there any more. I had a sync done in May and they charged me an hour.
I agree. I think times are tough for them, quite a few staff changes in last year. Not helping their own cause with silly work quotes.
-
Who's handlebar risers are those?
-
E&S Motorsport in Ft. Sask. charges an hour for syncing on RSV. I’d be dropping any dealer who is quoting a 4-6 hour job. Wow! Doug
That's who quoted me 4 hrs.!!

Took bike for a 160 km test ride today. Added seafoam to tank and topped up with 10L of premium. Misfire still seems to be there. Dealer wants 4 to 6 hours to sync carbs. I'll use a FLIR camera next week when I'm back at work to check exhaust pipe temps.
Are there any adjustments I can try before taking to dealer?
Thanks

Checked back through some old posts and oil level seems to be the most common. Old plugs all looked good, so I'm not sure if I've fixed the misfire issue yet. Cleaned everything and will reassemble in morning. What a PIA to change plugs. Looks like fuel filter will be a challenge with my big mitts!
I check oil level in garage and bike level.
Thanks.😎

Changed front plugs, found oil above carbs. Posted a question in the 2nd gen section.
Checked air filters and blew out with air.
Next is fuel filter, need to look it up in tech section 😎

Noticed a misfire developing last 500 miles. Finished changing plugs today on my 09 Venture. It has 38000km or about 25000 miles. About 2500 miles since last oil change. Oil level is middle of glass. When I pulled fuel tank off I noticed some oil on the outside of the air plenum on shifter side. Pulled plenum off that side and there was some oil on inside too. Cleaned up all inside and out. No oil in plenum on brake side. Carbs are clean, but seem to be a bit sticky. Any ideas why oil would be there? Only mod to bike is previous owner took baffles out of mufflers. I've put 17000 km since I bought it in 2016.
I cleaned everything up, planning on spraying inside of oily carbs with a bit of carb cleaner.
Pulled air filters and they are good.
New plugs installed.
Throttle doesn't return to idle position if you twist it when bike is not running. (Never noticed this when riding)
Open to suggestions.
Thanks

I like mine so far. The speed is very accurate and updates quickly when speed zones change. Haven't dug in the manual yet to see if I can enlarge the font size. The route map doesn't always keep the direction you are going to the top of the map. Sometimes on return trips it shows the travel arrow pointing down. I really like the portrait/landscape feature and the how easy it is to rotate it.
