  1. Right by me. The speedo is never right unless you have the speedo healer. You should (?) get 40 +/- mpg. Light usually comes on at 160 for me but I have gone 225 miles with the light on.

    :farmer:

    I usually get about 45mpg at 70mph

  2. Did a quick trip to Atlanta and back this weekend ( 755 miles round trip). Ran a few tankfuls at 80 -85mph by the gps( 85-90 by speedometer)got 36mpg. Also last tank reserve light and odometer came on at about 150 miles and had to switch to reserve immediately. This was one of the tanks I ran hard. Ran another 31 miles at 65-70mph and when I fueled up, I put in 5 gals. Does this sound about right?

  3. Um, you need someone to help you get it off the kick stand?

I'm not trying to be mean here but what do you do if you have to stop somewhere for something like fuel? Or coffee? or anything else?

And what's the plan if it tips over on you at some point? We all don't plan to have them tip over, but it happens sometimes....

I guess my dry humor didn't show through, but at 6'2" and 265lbs I have no problem with the weight of the RSV and if I drop it I will pick it up. Or get my wife to help me as she is usually near by on her Vstar 1300.

  4. I have had my Venture a little over 6 months and had planned on keeping the Road Star too. I had read that the Venture was top heavy and didn't maneuver well in tight places, so the plan was keep them both. Well after a few months it became clear to me that the Venture did just fine around town and the guys that thought it was too big were probably just little scrawny guys too little to ride a big motorcycle. So the Road Star was sold and now any time I ride the Venture I just call my wife outside to help me lift it off the kick stand and away I go.

  5. Hmm I see something fishy. The max speed looks suspicious @ 394 mph

Max speed showed 85mph on trip up and 394mph when I got home. I don't remember going that fast, I was pushing to get home , but I suspect it is off by about 300.

  6. gps 097.jpgScreen shot from my GPS .Just got back from Nashville. Rode up Friday(525 miles) mostly Interstate. Came home today (514 miles) almost no interstate. 10 hrs up and 11.5 coming home. I bought the RSV because 500 mile days were tough on the Road Star, 600 mile days on the interstate will be no problem now. Going up I ran one tank of gas at about 80-85mph and only got about 38mpg. Today I did 187 miles on the Natchez Trace and only used 3.5 gals (53mpg). The rest of the trip MPG stayed in the mid 40 mpg range. Glad I bought this bike!
