  1. I got the IRS call. Caller ID showed number was from Seattle Washington. I told the guy to please hold a minute. I came back on the line and told him I had an agent with the IRS on the other line so please go ahead and tell me why he was calling. He told me, "you are a smart ass." I said you are a sand n****r. He hung up. I reported the call to the Treasury Department, but doubt they will do anything.

  2. There have been many medical studies that show people who died from a heart attack or stroke died because of inflammation of the cardiovascular system, not cholesterol. What causes inflammation? SUGAR. Keep eating ice cream, cake, candy, drinking sodas and we will be reading about your obituary on a post to this site. I'm not trying to be ugly but just giving you the facts. It's nothing to be taken lightly.

  3. Hey rickardracing,

In my 42 years as an insurance agent I have never seen a homeowner policy that would cover your motorcycle. Every homeowner policy I have seen excludes any coverage for motor vehicles licensed for road use. If they were covered under a homeowner there would be no need for a motorcycle policy. If someone with AAA told you it is covered you need to request a letter from the claims department confirming your cycle would be covered under your homeowner. Also the majority of the cost in a cycle policy is the collision coverage. If you had the bike in storage it would make more sense to delete the collision, since you are not going to be riding, and keep the comprehensive coverage.

  4. Hi all,

I just got sticker shock from Allstate in CA. I was ok paying in the 3's but $437 WITH over $200 in "discounts"? time to shop. This is with perfect driving record and having my motorcycle license for 46 years.

Who is your carrier and how much do you pay annually for full coverage as below:

Coverage detail for 2007 Yamaha Xvz13tf

    Bodily Injury $250,000 each person

    $500,000 each accident

    Property Damage $100,000 each accident

Collision Insurance Actual cash value $250

Comprehensive Insurance Actual cash value $250

    Uninsured Motorists Insurance for Bodily

    Injury

This rate is about what you can expect. It's not out of line.

  5. Out West, it gets pretty warm-hot in the summer. Like the idea, but without AC you would be riding around in an oven.

Interesting enough to follow their progress for sure.

You can get air conditioning as an option.

  6. A guy called yesterday to insure an Elio. He has already made a deposit on one. I had never heard of an elio but you can go to eliomotors.com and read about it. As of now, I can't find an insurance company that will insure one of these. Progressive has the rates and coverage set up but they haven't gotten approval to insure yet. On of the unanswered questions is do you have to wear a helmet and/or have a motorcycle license. Someone that checked into the Georgia law says they don't think you do but the law is vague. I wouldn't want one of these but evidently a lot of people do.

  7. I don't believe anything yamaha says. I don't think they know what they want. I will never buy another yamaha. Their customer service used to be great but not now. If you call yamaha's customer service line you can't talk to anyone that knows what they are doing.

  8. Yesterday a dealer called me for an insurance quote for a prospective customer. An 18 year old single male with an at fault accident on his record. This is the crazy part. The 18 year old was wanting to buy a Yamaha R1. Why would an 18 year old want a 1000 cc crotch rocket. He would probably be dead in two months. When he got the rate it probably changed his mind. Nationwide had given him a quote of $11,000 per year but I was able to save him some money. My rate was only $10,700 per year. Then his dad wanted to know if he could put the bike in his name and not list his son as a driver. I wanted to say are you crazy. Why would anyone in their right mind want to do that. Instead the dad ought to be telling the son that he needs to get a less powerful bike. If I would insured the bike and not list the son, when the bike was totaled and the insurance company denied the claim the father would be wanting to sue me and cuss that mean insurance company.

  9. There must be a problem with the 07's. My friend has an 07 and I posted about his problem. Bike wouldn't start, dealer put new selenoid on, then radio wouldn't work. Dealer replaced radio, $1,400. Bike worked fine for a few days and now it won't start unless you disconnect the radio. Dealer has had bike for 2 weeks. The heat light and temp light come on when it won't start.

  10. Rode my bike to work this morning and was forty miles from work. After I passed all the gas stations my gas light came on and I still had 30 miles to go. After the light is on for a while my bike will sputter and I switch to reserve which is supposed to have .9 gal left. This morning the bike never sputtered, it just kept running. I was holding my breath when I pulled into a gas station. My bike held 5.377 gals. I don't think I have ever been that low.

  11. A few years ago I found LA Rider on tv one sunday morning. At that time Tee was riding a road star. I hadn't watched the show in a few years but saw it yesterday morning while flipping the channels. She is now riding a harley. It looks like a road glide. I noticed that yamaha is a sponsor of the show. I wonder what they think of her riding a harley now.

  12. Yesterday a friend on mine went to the AG Expo in Moultrie, GA and said yamaha was there with demos. Since it was an Ag Expo they had 4 wheelers and other off road vehicles. My friend talked to one of the factory reps about the venture but she couldn't or wouldn't give any info. He told her he liked the venture the way it is and didn't care if any changes were made. The rep said they need to at least get rid of the cassette player and change to fuel injection. When my friend started to leave the rep told him to go on the yamaha site this morning between 8:00am and 10:00 am and the new line of yamaha's would be on the site. I don't know what time zone but I am going to see what happens.

  13. One of the guys that rides with a group of us has a 2012 RSV. A car pulled out in front of him and he t boned the car. He has a broken arm, pelvis and leg. A friend went to the crash site before the bike was moved and said if our friend hadn't been riding a heavy bike like the venture he probably would have been killed. Please pray for healing.

  14. I posted a few months ago about a problem my friend in having with his 07 RSV. We were riding and his temp and oil light came on and the radio went off. You could put your ear toward the front of the engine and it sounded like the starter was still engaged. You could switch the bike on and move the kill switch to on and the bike would start. Took bike to dealer and they replaced the solenoid switch which corrected the problem but the radio wouldn't work. Dealer ordered a new radio/amp from yamaha who ordered from Clarion. Dealer installed new radio, and charged my friend $1,900. Bike worked fine. Last month my friend and I were on a trip to tennessee and we stopped to fill up. Went to start bike and it wouldn't start and heat and oil light on again and radio wouldn't work. Had to switch the ignition on and I had to push the bike to start. My friends son is good at automotive electrical so he has been helping troubleshoot. They started at the rear of the bike and checked every wire. They would work for 3 or 4 hours and get frustrated and back off for a few days. Last night they had checked all wiring up to the gas tank. They removed the tank and found the wire from the starter is split with one wire going to the radio and one to the stater. They couldn't find anything wrong so the son suggested disconnecting the radio. When you disconnect the radio bike starts and works fine. I have never heard of such. Any ideas. Also, the new radio doesn't work.

  15. I have trailered my 05 many times. I cut a clothes hanger down to about 12" and bent a hook in one end. I can't think of the name but there is a tie down piece about 12" that you can buy and I run it through the inside of the triple tree and I hook my tie down strap to this piece. There is absolutely no need to tie down the rear end. It isn't going anywhere.
