Nope!! I am at a point where I WANT mine to wear out so I can replace the crappy rims with better ones, and switch to 16" and tires that are about 1" bigger in diameter...
I understand about the rims being crappy, the previous owner of this trike did not believe in detailing the rims/keeping them clean. They were pretty stained and I tried different aluminum polishes to try and get them in better shape but too no avail. I too will probably change out rims. Now it did come with 3 brand new tires the Dunlop D404 on front and 2 Kumho Solus on the rear. Dont know much about the Kuhmo tires except they are from Korea if not mistaken.

So running the rear tires that much lower wont cause them to wear out qicker?

Just a little update, to my steering issues. Well I found out yesterday that the ol front tire was not sitting at 36 psi but 33 psi. So I inflated to 40 psi and took a 130 mile ride with the wife up into the Smokey Mountains into Sevierville/Pigeon Forge and back to Clinton. WOW what a difference adding the extra air to the tire made, steering was 10 times better. I feel like a knucklehead for not checking that sooner, but I was told by the dealer that I bought it from that they inflated to 36 psi, I guess maybe I could have lost 3 lbs of air in a month but hard for me to believe. So, I will keep a regular eye on the air pressure. I also changed the rear tire psi to 30 right and 28 left, I read on one of the threads someone said that these were good pressures to use. I just want to thank you guy's for your help with the triple tree thing and tire psi, it's been a big help. I just need to keep riding and I will get use to the push/pull thing alot sooner. Thanks again,
Rob

PUSH/PULL have fun and enjoy...And lets not talk about how great your weather is !
and if it is 10:30 there you should have been riding two hours already LOL
OOOpppsss, I think I said something Tabooo (good weather) and I couldn't ride till she was clean, can't take a dirty trike on the road..... lol

I am detailing as well this morning to cold to wash . So I am trying the Griots Car wash spray and it is working very well, no water needed :-)
It's a beautiful day here in east TN at 10:30 it's already 53 degrees and sunny. I will finish detailing and then take the wife for a ride this afternoon. Too nice of day not to get out and do a little riding, plus I need to practice getting use to the trike steering. lol

The brake pads are Brembo and many places will not carry them but EBCbrakes are available in most motorcycle shops, the EBC number is FA266 HH ,,,I think Amazon has them as well. If your looking at them through the wheel they will look like they need replaced pull the wheel and take a closerlook and you will be surprised on how much is really left on them.Jeff
Thanks Jeff, I will pull the wheels and take a closer look. I guess looking through the rim will give you an optical illusion. They look thin but really aren't.

I am detailing the trike this morning and was taking a close look at the rear brake pads and they seem to be getting a little thin. Was wondering where you guy's get pads for these Hannigan kits. Thanks Rob

My Hannigan triple tree Easy Steer has the words "Easy Steer" etched into the top piece in large letters curved around the center nut and is clearly visible when you look at the top piece. Since those photo's do not show that etched in on the top piece then I assume that it is an older unit?
I know this is a 35th anniversary Hannigan kit on the bike, which I think was 2010. So I am guessing at the time the previous owner had the triple tree put on at the same time. I'm only guessing, so I could be mistaken. Also, I thought Hannigan was using Steer-lite vice Easy Steer. Thanks

You are welcome. Most of us on trikes are running 41 to 42. The front 404 will wear fast. i had a Michelin on the front for a while but it was rough riding on the wing. I went to a Bridgestone and it rides smooth and steers very light for an unraked front end.I also like the way it grabs. I can go into a corner more aggressively then the E3 When you replace that 404 if you can, find a rear tire the same size as your front tire is now and use that.It will last you much longer. I have 8000 miles on mine now and the tread depth is almost as good as new.
Thanks Paul, for all your help. I know that I still have a lot to learn about riding a trike vs two wheels. But I am up for the challenge.....

Get some air in that front tire now and go for a ride the extra 4 lbs will make a
heck of a difference on how it turns.
Will inflate to 40lbs and see how that works. Thanks Cougar

I had a 404 on my Trike for 2 months and it cupped really bad. get a Michelin CommanderII ( rear same size as front ) and you will be a happy camper
Ok I will look into changing the front tire out to the Michelin, hopefully it will help a little more. Thanks

Don't know if you discovered this yet but it would be a great M&E for you to attend in May. B2Dad still has his Hannigan RSV. Actually they are only about 1/2 hr from the Factory! The Meet is a fund raiser for ST. Jude's Hospital but no one holds a gun to you and makes you give. It's a really good time and several of us RSV Trikers will be there...
Thanks for the heads up about this, only 5 hour ride to Dresden from Clinton. I will make plans with the wife to make this trip in May.

...and no tacky silver flames on it!!! Get yourself a cooler rack for the trailer, you will enjoy it!
Nice yellow muscle car!!
Thanks for the compliments on the trike and YELLOW MUSCLE car. It's my other baby.

Nice looking Trees , now let us see THE REST OF THE TRIKE !
Ok, here are some quick shots of the trike sitting in my garage...hopefully you all give it the seal of approval for us venture trikers. Thanks

I don't know how long you have been riding a trike but when I switched over it took me quite awhile to get used to the steering. I had been on 2 wheels for nearly 50 years. I found that I was beginning to tolerate it better after about 5k miles. It has now been 2.5 years since I bought my trike and the steering doesn't feel near so strange to me anymore. I do not have a raked triple tree on my trike but I found that switching tires made a big difference. It had an E3 on it when I bought it and I thought it steered like a truck. I now have a rear Bridgestone Battle Ax same size as the original Goldwing 1500 front tire and it steers much better. Also what pressure are you running? I find 41 lbs seems to work great for me. Good luck with the trike and if you haven't already, come visit us over on TrikeTalk.com
Hey Paul,
Thanks for the info, just checked the front tire out:
New Dunlop D404
Size: 150/80 B16 M/C 71H
Air PSI: 36
I just bought this trike about a month ago now and it's my first time riding one, so I guess I just need to get use to the way it steers. Not for sure if this tire size means I should go smaller or it's already small enough.

Yup, that looks like Hannigan to me as well. There is a learning curve to riding a trike so you may very well get used to it after a few hundred miles or so...
Yeah, I just need to MAN UP and get use to the way it feels. I knew that this was going to be different, but didn't really realize how much different. So, Cougar was correct the other day it was already raked. Thanks for your help. Rob

It sure looks like one of Hannigan's Triple Trees to me as well. Take a look at the distances between the rear of the front fender and the radiator. If it's more than about three inches it has an aftermarket triple tree on it. I don't know the exact distance of a stock tree (3"?) but Hannigan's tree will be about 5" from the chrome tip to the lower cowling.
Hope this helps
Larry
Thanks Larry, for the measurement idea. It is approximately 5" from chrome fender tip to the lower cowling. Well that saves about $1500 bucks. Now I can buy something else, maybe floor boards instead.

Well after going back and looking at the pics ragtop69gs posted the other day, I guess that this is a hannigan triple tree installed. Man, I guess I just need to work out some more then, get a little more meat on the bones. lol
-
Ok gentleman, I finally figured the pic upload thing. Had to reduce the size of the pics in paint then they would upload. So please take a look at the pics of the triple tree and tell me if this looks stock or aftermarket. I don't want to spend $1000 dollars on a new triple tree if I don't need too. Your help is greatly appreciated!!!!! If this is stock then I will give Hannigan a call today and order the 6 degree Steer-light and then I just have to find someone local to install it for me. Thanks again Rob

I almost bet it is raked already. If your REALLY new it this 3 wheel adventure
it is NOTHING like two wheels. give it a few hundred miles and you won't even notice it remember it will be push/pull now and not leaning.
*ENJOY*
and WELCONE !
Jeff
Yep I am REALLY new at the 3 wheelers. I sold my Honda VTX 1300 to get into the trike world. I do read alot about them so I am trying to catch up to you guys in knowledge. And I understand the push pull thing, but if it was raked I just think it shouldnt be as tough as it is. I read where you guys say its like having power steering, but this is like steering a semi with no power steering into the curves. IT SUCKS AFTER A WHILE.
-
Ok guys I took some nice pics of the triple tree with my phone last night and tried to upload them for all of you to see but I keep getting an error message and it wont upload them. HELP!!!!!! Darn smart phones arent so smart or maybe its just the operator. lol
-
When I get home later I will take some pics of my triple tree and maybe you guys can tell if its stock or aftermarket.
-
Doncha just love that ugly rust spot on our raked triple trees?!!?
You pay big bucks for the thing and get cheap bolts that rust. Something just doesnt sound right about that.
-
Here is a brilliant idea. Two rear brake pedals, one for right wheel and other for left wheel.
Makes those trikes spin on a dime when you punch one brake lever and steer into turn.
Gary
HMMMMM drifting trikes, ok but you get to try that one first.

The only thing about pics is they are so decieving. Before I bought my trike I found several on Craigslist and trike sites went and looked at them and most of them did not look as good as the pics.
