  1. I just purchased an 07 RSV and quickly figured out I want the center stand. I searched through and found Freebird's mount to use a 1st gen stand. Since he doesn't make them anymore the measurements are posted to make your own. I contacted Don with a question and asked his blessing before I made this offer. I'm guessing there others like me wanting a stand and not all have access to the tools to make it. So with Don's blessing (what a leader) I will punch out a few extras for members only. Shipping n handling in the US I'm guessing around $10, Canada a little more. Just my way of trying to repay the help I've received here. You'll need a 1st gen stand and the bolts from the donor bike and the spring to hold it up. These will be raw steel, not welded or painted due to the differences between mounting tabs on some 2nd gens being bent. Be sure to thank Don for allowing us to use his design.

I appreciate someone taking on this task and building them again!!!! I'm interested in getting one myself. I've been using blocks of wood up to this point.

  2. Throw a car tire on it and you'll never have problems in the rain.

No way!! I enjoy a motorcycles handling in corners, usually ride ride crooked roads more than straight. My Brother installed a car tire on his Honda Valkrye and I took it for ride. You really had to work to wrestle that bike through the corners and a Valkrye is one of the best handling cruisers on the market. I'll stick with motorcycle tires.

  3. Seems like a step backwards to me. V-twin with a belt drive. Why imitate HD? Aren't we past that?

Good looking bike but I wonder why they didn't use a shaft drive.

I'm ok with the Belt drive, they are so much lighter and better. Plus you hardly ever hear of someone breaking a belt these days. I'm kinda ok with V-Twin, but I would have liked for it to be water cooled. I don't like the 200mm rear tire. I wish they would have kept the 150mm or no bigger than a 180mm. 200mm and bigger tires are a pain in wet conditions. Harley Davidson learned that on their touring bikes.

  4. Kretz, At $15 for a light, I decided to give the one you listed a try. Coming from China, so won't get here for about two weeks. I'll let everyone know how well it works.

  5. Gary, can you post the pictures? I'm interested in installing one of these lights. There are so many models I'm not sure which one will work on my RSV.

Put a Broview S5 LED in last year ran it about 6K miles mostly daylight It uses braid for cooling instead of a fan, great light pattern with excellent proper cut off on low beam. Put two in my FJR because I like this one so much. Completely plug and play no wiring changes cuts or other connectors needed. Probably best to pull the outer fairing for the install you need to mount the power block. I have a series of pics with it installed.
  6. So after installing a sylvania bright white bulb in my RSV, I didn't like how yellow the Driving lights looked compared to the bright white bulb. So after some research I installed some XBrite 4.5 LED driving lamps that I got off Amazon. Now they are so bright, I'm thinking I need a brighter headlight bulb. When I search Amazon and look at the lights, some have good reviews, but then there are some that the bulb goes out in a short time.

I know there have been several post on here concerning HID and LED Lights, but most are a few years old. So what I would like to know is who is running and LED Headlight and how long have you been running it? Plus if you have a good one, what brand and where can I buy it?

    Thanks'

    Sam

  7. So I decided to go with the Xbrite 4.5 LED lights. Easy installation on my RSV. Just had to change out the electrical connectors. The light fits perfectly into the light housing with no modifications needed. They are bright, but I haven't had a chance to ride at night to see how they work. You can get them at Amazon for $39.99.

  8. An old trick I have used for years when winterizing my bikes. I completely drain the carbs, and then spray WD40 in the float bowls through the drain ports. Then I remove the air box and spray WD40 through the intake ports. The WD40 won't allow the rubber components to dry out and keeps the ports from varnishing up. Then it will dissolve when gas is added. I've used this method foir years and never had any issues when firing up in the spring.

Now I will have to admit I only use this on my Vintage Bikes, because I keep my RSV ready to go at all times, because I ride her all year long.

  9. Thanks' Craig! That's the kind of input I'm looking for. I wanted the street glide look also, but I don't want the buffeting I experienced with the 10" shield.

I took an old stock windshield and cut it down to about 6" wanted that Street Glide look. Spent about 2 hrs taping it off, cutting it down and sanding the edge. Put it on the bike and went up the highway about 1 mile at 60mph. Came rite back home and took it rite off. Buffeting was brutal, talk about a "bad hair day":Bunny2:

  10. I'm in the same situation. I'm 6'2" and the 10" clear shield I have now is ok without a Helmet but atrocious with either my 1/2 or full. I was looking at the 6" & 8" but not sure if I like the tinted but for the price its worth a shot.

My buddies HD Ultra has a Long Ride Shields with a recurve that he got for a great price, so far there are very slim offerings for a recurve for the Venture of they are upwards of $250.

Edit: looking at them now I think Clearview is the only option for a recurve.

    Bratman,

I've looked and can't find recurve shields for the RSV. Where did you find them at?

  11. I'm running E3 bias ply now. They seem to be doing really well but I do notice the growling in the corners. I run my tire pressure at 40 in the rear and 35 in the front. I've looked at 777 a couple times, but wanted to hear other fellow RSV owners opinions before I laid down the money. Especially after running the 230's. I'm glad four this thread!
