  1. Hmm power went out just as I got all my info loaded here. Arghh

So my irrigation system has been INOP for a couple years. I have piped in a connection with a ball valve to put city water to system to check out leaks/broken sprinklers/ breaks in lines etc. all of that is sound now. when I turn on the pump motor runs but no pressure. So open city water and I can get maybe 4-5' of coverage, turn pump on and it it increses to maybe 7-10' which is about where I think it should be. turn off city water and nuttin. Even with city water hose off pump running open valve I get no water spraying out. This am I did out of the city water/hose connection, maybe 3 inch or so but not what it should be at 40 psi or more.

I did split the case and check things out best I could. Impeller bushing looks worn bad and black like overheated. So I did the old pack it with grease to take up space thing and no better results. So I am thinking my next step is remove pump from system, drop a line in the kiddy pool use for dog baths and see if it will pump. Sound like a viable plan? If pump makes water move I guess then its in the line from the well up. $$$$$$$$

I do not know the brand of pump. So far the only part # I can gather is off impeller housing. C1-258p which comes up a Berkly pump. I dont think that is what I would have put on there as I am not familiar with them. I can tell you it looks like a Flowtec maybe a FP5172 https://www.waterpumpsdirect.com/products-image/360/FP5172-08_72337_1000.jpg

How lucky are you Having the irrigation go out during rainy season.

  2. After being given the 5 year prognosis and fighting hard for 8 years in his fight with Cancer, our family has been given notice that my little brother is in the 2 week window. Doug is a true blue fighter (always has been,, even as a kid 3 years younger than I he could hold his own against his bigger brother's :stickpoke:) and continues to fight with everything in him against this horrible stuff. He has chosen to pass at home in his bed, surrounded by family (has 4 girls and a wife, Mom, and 6 siblings there with him). Hospice is doing a good job of keeping him comfortable (nice way of saying keeping the Morphine flowing). While the fights not over till its over and our hopes/prayers are that God blesses Doug with total healing, God's perfect will doesnt always align with our wishes and God is the one who ultimately decides when to call His children home. Doug accepted God's free gift of eternal salvation found in Christ alone and has lived a fruitful life due to this and is fairly well at peace with facing death due to this. He and God are square but, of course - I don't wanna lose my only little brother but also know how this all works and am there for him either way (gonna be hard without him but I'll see him again soon when it's my time).

If you have a second and don't mind,, please send Doug/us warm thoughts and if your a brother/sister in Christ please lift Doug and our family up in prayer as we work thru these days..

    Thanks

    Puc n Tip

    Praying for your family.

  3. Just talking with my mom here, getting the scoop on my little brother. Like his big brother, he got dealt the hand of Cancer a couple years ago too and it initially cost him a kidney. Unfortunately, his initial surg didnt come out as well as mine seems to have as the stuff spread around some. Latest news is they found a walnut size spot in a femur and blood spots in his lungs = LOTS of extreme pain and living on the morphine/fentynal (spent over a year on the stuff too,, good pain killer but hard on the body) has taken its toll. The docs finally decided here that he has gained enough umphh that he may be able to tolerate putting in supportive rods and plates into his upper leg so the femur dont snap and he may be able to get back on his feet. We are on our way to pick up mom and then head to G.R. to hug and pray for my bro - pre surgery - because,,, well because any surgery anytime has its possibility of not good turn outs - hate to sound gruesome but you know me,, always about the truth. Doug (my brother) is a Christian and loves the Lord. His wife does too.. So does my Mom and Tip and me too... Tell ya that so you know hoThanw to pray and/or what type of good ole positive thoughts to send his way if possible...

    ALL support appreciated!!

    Thanks

  5. A lot of newer members don't know this, but VR.Org has an SAF Fund. Special Activities Fund. Generally it was funded by money made from the Raffles and Activities from the yearly Internationals and private donations, but lately there hasn't been a lot of money left over to donate.. The person in charge sends flowers when needed, and takes care of many other 'needs' as well. Black Owl was the honorary that took care of those things. Since his passing, and no one taking up the mantle, it has sort of laid dormant, but with the passing of Yammer, and Don sending flowers from all of us out of his own pocket, I think the time has come for us to fatten the Fund. There is a 'Contribution Actions' link at the top of the page. Donating doesn't have to be much. $10 bucks isn't going to kill anyone, but if a lot of us send something I bet it will make the SAF viable again... My $10....

    Done

  6. Folks, it hurts me more than I can say to have to report this news but it has to be done. We lost one of our longest and most active members today. Yammer Dan has forever left our group and this world. I don't have all the details yet but understand that he had, at long last, found and purchased a trike somewhere down in Tennessee. He, his wife, and his son or son in law drove down to get it. Yammer paid for the trike and headed home and I understand only made it about 4 miles when something happened. It is very unclear right now but it is possible that he had some type of medical condition that possibly caused him to come off the trike.

It is with such a heavy heart that I report this sad news. Yammer has had more than his share of bad luck over the past few years. More than many people could take. I understand that he was so very excited that he had finally found a good deal on the trike of his dreams and was so very excited about surprising all of us at Maintenance Day. Yammer was the first to admit that he was generally a loner and did not easily take to groups of any kind but he had found a group within VentureRiders that he felt accepted and comfortable with. I am so thankful for that and that we were able to count him amongst our many friends.

There will be more posted as more is learned but for now, please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and if you are so inclined to do so, please say a prayer for the entire family. I will miss him. I'm sure that many of you will as well.

So sorry to hear the sad news. prayer to his family.

  7. Had a good ride today. Met up with Bluebeard and Pat, Steve and Marilyn and my other half. Good food and my wife says really good baked deserts. LOL I have an idea I'm bouncing around and see if I can make it work.

Great time. Good ride. Lets not wait so long till the next meet and eat. Maybe head to the east coast nearer to Steve for a change.

  8. Been trying to figure out an easy way to bring this up since December, but unfortunately I dont believe there is an easy way so I will just put it out there. I have been having some problems with what I believed to be a sprained back since Sept. After all types of therapy with poor results they decided to do some testing as well as imaging. Beginning of Dec. I was diagnosed with Multiple Myloma it is a rare bone marrow cancer, that eats away at your bone, I have already had one operation on my spine and will probably need more. There is no cure but there are treatments to get it to remission and then a bone marrow transplant. Kim and I are both doing well, we are trying to keep positive, laugh every chance we get and hope for the best. I have gone from 190lbs to 155lbs in 2 months and aged about 10yrs. Hopefully we can turn that around. I started treatments this week and so far have been tolerating them pretty well. Dont know if we will be doing any riding this year, but I am holding out hope and that trike just mite make it possible. Well you are all caught up, hopefully I can share some better news as the treatments continue.

    Thanks Craig

Prayers for you and your family

  9. BlueBeard,

I sell earplugs. When you say recommendation, it is best if we know what environment you are going to be in, to know what level ear plugs you would need.

looking for something to wear when I

    ride.

Something that would be comfy while wearing a helmet

  10. All battened down here on the east coast, everything loose is inside and all the windows are boarded up. Got gas for the generator, gas for the grill and food, we are all set to be bored for the few days. Clean up is always the worst part.

At last check with Barry , he was good, also battened down and ready to wait it out.

Will report when it is over, we will be here, Florida is not going any place.

We are boarded up here in Bradenton. Wind is worst we have ever seen and the main part of the storm is way off. Keep safe over there
