I don't like to see a Venture getting hurt........

Guys,
I am looking at an 2008 RSTD and it looks similar to my 1996 RS save for hard saddlebags, speedo panel, and two wind deflectors (cowlings?) on both sides of the radiators. They look too bulky to be just wind deflectors.
My question is: what do those "cowlings" do? Are those just wind deflectors or do they hold something inside?
Thanks!

Neither.
It's the age of streaming now.

I agree with most of the guys, UPS don't usually drop packages over the fence. I am 75% sure that you are being scammed, but I'll give the other guy the benefit of the doubt.
Research, research, research. Good luck with your findings.

Best I can find is the owner's manual for 1998 Virago 1100:

I don't know how close it is to 1992 Virago, but they are both XV1100 so you may be in luck.
Good luck in your project.

I bought my bike last year with Metzelers already on it.
I put 3k miles on it and I barely noticed the difference, so I expect to see at least 10k miles (on top of the miles put by the previous owner).

Hi guys,
I am thinking of installing Baron Big Air Kit on my 96 Royal Star:

http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/254/
But I don't want to spend $300+ if the performance increase is insignificant.
Does anybody have experience with this product?
How much power increase do you get? 10HP? 25HP? 50HP? 15 lb-ft? 30 lb-ft?
Does this product worth $300 or is it overpriced?
Thanks guys!

KY 227 is a favorite road for motorcyclists in Central Kentucky because of the twists.
Here is 15-min video of me going through KY 227:

Not exactly this model (this is much later model), but similar.

I looked at the bike yesterday. It had Vanes Hines pipes so it sounded RRRReally good, and plenty of torque. But it vibrated more than my Royal Star. It was nice for short range and get people's attention but I can't see myself in it for a long range. I guess I'll be happier on a RS/RSV.

Thank you guys, your comments are greatly appreciated.
How about the heat? Road Star is air cooled, so while it handles better than Royal Star in town, there's plenty of stop-and-go, not to mention traffic jams. Is heat a concern or not at all?

There's a 2007 Road Star Silverado on craiglist for 18k miles. It looks good and seems to be well-maintained. I'm interested to buy it.
Does anybody have experience with 1700 Road Stars? How does it fare compare to RS/RSTD/RSTC/RSV in terms of:
- reliability
- handling
- power
- fuel consumption (i.e. mileage)
- comfort
- ease of maintenance
- spare parts availability
Thanks in advance, this site rocks!
