  1. you are not the only one that just ordered the kuhmo :) mine will get here this friday and i'm pretty excited. i'll be breaking mine in on a trip to CO in 2 weeks. i'm really looking forward to it. i'm just doing it for the cost savings, since my mc tires have been really good to me and they've gotten great milage for a mc tire. (metzler 880s getting 12k miles on the rear)

i have a lot of friends that darkside, so i'm really not that worried about what folks have been saying. and i have ridden my partners valk that we darksided. she loves it and wouldn't go back.

the advice about thinking that you just got a new bike is spot on. once my partner got the hang of it ... you can't tell that she is on a car tire except in really slow parking lot situations.

    enjoy the ride

  2. i just got back to my work location from there. i stayed in robbinsville at a place called two wheels in. they even have little garages for the bikes. came in handy since it rained lastnite/this am. yes you should ride the dragon and cherohola is a must. ride it, enjoy it, get the tshirt and then ride the rest of the area.

i love blue ridge parkway. the max speedlimit on brp is 45mph. it will drop to 35mph in a number of places. one of the best things about brp is getting off the bike and checking out the things to do. i suggest doing a bit of research on the brp so that you know where to stop.

there is some great riding so grab a mad map or just plot your own course. i dont think that you will can really go wrong. and most important ... enjoy it!

  3. You can't use risers on the RSTD. It isn't the same as the RSV.

The Flanders part #650-08783 replacement bars is the only option I found. I did not have to replace any cables or lines, I just re-routed them a little. It's pretty simple to do.

i went with this on my rstd and love it. i did opt for new braided stainless lines that were longer. i'm 5'8" and the dull nagging pain in my back is gone. love it!!!!

skip all the riser info, the speedo will not allow for it. just call flanders and put the order in or go have someone custom make longer bars.

    enjoy the ride!

  4. the valk is super kewl. but i still prefer my rstd. my garage now has 2 valks (1 will get a sidecar) the other is my partner's ride. she loves hers and we both ride with the valk group too.

if you get the bike great, if not, you will find the right ride when the time is right for ya.

    good luck!

  5. i went the ipod route. there is also a HUGE aftermarket for ipods. you can find rf remotes to dock-able speakers, etc. i use my ipod in the house as well as on the bike. i'd recommend any of the solid state ones. also the user interface is simple and the itunes store is really cool.

i have made a number of different playlists that i like to listen to when i ride.

there is 1 bad side to music on the bike. if you sing out loud in a full face helmet, you can hear yourself. sometimes a shortie is beter, depending on your voice :rotfl:

  6. rode that from dallas ... all that ever really happened is that i backfired once or twice when pulling in the clutch. never had a problem with power or anything. one tip ... on those high passes in the shade ... put on some long fingered gloves. it got a bit chilly :D
