lsutley Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I have a few alterations to make to my 86 and would like to complete them as effectively as possible. I guess a list of tasks would be the easiest way to explain everything that needs completed. Rebuild carburetors Install Vmax heads Replace starter with 4 pole Install modified starter clutch Install upgraded stator Replace gear selection pickup Install new R/R Install new TCI Install Barnett clutch assembly Would it be best to remove the motor to the bench and go from there?
muffinman Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 For everything but the heads I would leave the motor in but it would be easier to do the heads out of the bike as I am not sure if the head studs would come out easy enough. Jeff
Yammer Dan Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I about agree with Jeff. If you are doing all that it would be much easier on the bench(heavy Duty) instead of bending over for a lot of hrs.
