Santa Hal Posted May 11, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2012 What is the advantage to changing to the 17.5 pilots? I changed my pilot to 17.5 because it stopped the backfirng in between shifting gears. I'm running the nasty boy pipes and its running wide open and K&N filters. It also helps with the start up in the morning. You don't have to use the choke as much. Carbon 1 has quite a bit of experience with the jets. He changed the main jets two up inside on every jet and didn't really like the results of that. So he went back to the regular jets for the main and left the 17.5 for the pilots. He is happy with that and so am I. The pop is gone. Gas mileage is about the same. Thats why I changed.
