Taking a trip with the family in the future down to Dinosaur World in Bowling Green, staying in Sevierville for the night and then heading on to Surfside Beach the next day. Anyway thinking of going from Bowling Green heading East on (not sure of road name) to Somerset KY then south on 27 to Wartburg to 62 East to I75 to Knoxville to 411 to Sevierville.

Can you tell me the name of the road that stretches from Glasgow Ky to Somerset and let me know what to expect (road condition, etc...) for the roads I mentioned after Somerset.

Thanks

Hwy 62 from Wartburg to Oliver springs is under construction but rideable. Where do you plan on crossing over to I75? Do you plan on going on to Oak Ridge? Or do you plan to ride the North leg of the Devils Triangle (116) from Petros to Lake City where you can get on I75?

Just my two cents worth.....

I like hwy 70 through Tennessee. Nashville, Lebanon, Carthage, Cookeville, Monteray, Crossville, Rockwood (where I live), Kingston to hwy 321 at Lenoir City. Follow 321 through Maryville, Walland, Townsend. At Townsend you can turn left and stay on 321 through Wears Valley (really nice ride) or continue on into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Gatlinburg (even better ride) or go across the mountains to Cherokee, NC (Harrahs Casino) or a short ride on to the Wheels Through Time museum at Maggie Valley, NC. Up around the Maryville area you will be fairly close to the Tail of the Dragon also.

I'm rather fond of our great motorcycling roads here in the Tennessee/Georgia/North Carolina area! :301:

Had to look at the map again, meant I40 from 27/62/162. Would it be better just take 27 all the way to I40?

These all sound like great roads even if it will be in a minvan full of screaming little ones. :-)

Minivan??? Better stay off 116. Unless you want them all to get sick. lol Either route will be fine. 27-62-162 will take you through Oak Ridge. Plenty of eating places there. 27 to I-40 will get you there. Eating places there in Harriman before and after the entrance ramp on to I-40 and they are all close by. Depending on if you are hungry at that time.

I wish it was on the bike. Ok I guess family could be used as a loose term. :-) Yeah not planning on going on 116 (maybe they will all be asleep and I will take it LOL).

We normally do interestate but this time decided for a change in scenary for a bit. I am sure those roads are much more scenic than the highway.
