Pillion mic not working.

Pillion intercom mic quit working, dream come true right???  I Ass-U-MEd it was a cable, replaced both lower and upper with no fix. Headset speakers work just not the mic. It’s equipped with Mic Mutes also. Plan to start with cable under the trunk next, check mute wiring, then plugs in the fairing. Anybody ran into this that can offer up what they found?  I have tried multiple helmets since the cable change, it’s in the bike somewhere. It’s been an on again/off again problem recently, I’ve messed with plugs in the fairing without change.

Mic mutes. Don't have it but that would be my first guess.... Something inside that box? If you take it out of circuit, does the intercom now work normally?

Forgot to update. Problem was a bad connection at the plug under the pillion seat. Moved the plug and it came to life. Cleaned and greased the plug, been working since then.
