ReinyRooster Posted May 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 7, 2022 Need some help. I currently am using a satellite radio on the bike but want to switch....getting tired of paying their prices. I want to mount the phone on the bike and use my Spotify downloads for my music. If I mount the phone on the handlebars and use the cable to the input beside the tape deck, I believe I will have the music in my headset. If I wish to actually make a call though, I believe that I would need the Buddy Rich cable......correct? Is this correct? If so...does anyone have such a cable kicking around? Thanks
RDawson Posted May 8, 2022 Share #2 Posted May 8, 2022 That’s correct. The only manufacturers I know of were Buddy himself and Edsets. Ed is out of business and I don’t think Buddy has built them for quite awhile. I’m using one I got from Ed before he closed down.
SpencerPJ Posted May 8, 2022 Share #3 Posted May 8, 2022 I use to ride with my phone on the handlebars, gps and everything. Apple phones and many people have issues with the vibration ruining the camera, so I quit and only do so when I need to. https://www.hotcars.com/this-is-why-you-should-never-mount-your-iphone-on-a-motorcycle/#:~:text=On September 10%2C 2021%2C a,models after the iPhone 7. ReinyRooster Posted May 8, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted May 8, 2022 I read up on that issue... The Quad lock has a vibration damper that I believe will work to reduce the vibration to the phone.
saddlebum Posted May 9, 2022 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2022 Mounted my android with a ram X-mount for years now and have never had any vibration issues. I am thinking either the android is more durable or since the X-mount consists of 4 spring loaded flexible arms with rubber knobs that grip the phone it may not transmit vibrations to the phone. steamer Posted May 9, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2022 if im not mistaken Buddy Rich was the guy who made the mic mute, I'm told he is no longer in business. Its to bad, i could use a set now.
RDawson Posted May 9, 2022 Share #7 Posted May 9, 2022 Mic Mutes were from Morph Industries. Unfortunately he’s out of business too.
steamer Posted May 13, 2022 Share #8 Posted May 13, 2022 Your right, old age will do that to you. It no longer maters anyway. We went high tech this week, no more being tethered to the bike with cords. We went with Sena.
RedRider Posted May 26, 2022 Share #9 Posted May 26, 2022 Mr. Rooster, I believe I have one. I am de-farkling my bike to sell it this spring and just removed it tonight. Let me know how you would like it sent to you. No charge. RR
Twowheelogre Posted May 26, 2022 Share #10 Posted May 26, 2022 (edited) I bought a 15 dollar Bluetooth receiver on Amazon. I plug it into the auxiliary plug. I haven’t used it long enough to run the battery down. Just a few hours at a time but it works great. As for the phone mount I have an iPhone 13. I use a ram x mount and have had no problems. Twowheelogre Posted May 26, 2022 Share #11 Posted May 26, 2022 Can someone take a picture of the buddy rich cable. I’d like to see if I can make one. I’ve worked in Electronics for a long time. If I could get an idea of what he did I’m sure I could whip something up.
