Gas tank lid

Has anyone made any modifications to the gas cap lid on the 2018 Ventures? It is cheap looking and a pain in the butt to put gas in the tank with that lid! I would like to remove the lid and put something attractive there. Maybe a chrome cap. There are lock/unlock buttons that may require the lid to be closed to work. Any suggestions?

I have no experience with the 3rd Gen but us 2nd genners are always looking at different ways to cover the chrome gas caps because of the sun glare reflecting off it. Would a chrome lid cause the same issue on an SVTC?

some of the second gen owners got hold of a thick dense cup kozy. They cut the bottom out and slipped it over the gas cap and use it as a cup holder.

That is also how you disable your alarm if you are going to do any work on it . . . so you would have to find a way to simulate the gas lid being open when you shut the bike off.  I agree it is a pain to put gas in . . . I wish they would have had it fold back at least 180 instead of a 90.

Thanks for your reply. I may look into some type of hinge that will allow the lid to come back further
