Yamaha32088 Posted August 23, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2021 I know this has been discussed before but I am looking for a direct bolt on 4 brush starter. In the previous posts I have found there were eBay listings but they have expired and I can't seem to find any information that says definitively which ones will work. Hoping someone here can help me out with finding a listing or pointing me in the right direction of what to look for. Thanks in advance

Yamaha32088 Posted August 23, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted August 23, 2021 So I can just buy a 2013 venture starter and it will bolt right up with no modifications? I just want to make sure because there were some posts I remember seeing about modifying a starter clutch or something.

Don't need to modify. The starter clutch is a different issue all together.
BlueSky Posted August 23, 2021 Share #6 Posted August 23, 2021 The Ventures went to the 4 brush starter in 90 or 91. So, all of the 2nd Gen starters should work or the RSTD starters.
saddlebum Posted August 23, 2021 Share #7 Posted August 23, 2021 I also had one guy tell me he sent his into a re-builder who converted the 2 brush over to a 4 brush.

Forget who it was but he shipped his starter to some guy north of us and he apparently rebuilt it and converted to for brush. No idea how since I would think it would require more than just replacing the brush plate like converting two poles to four poles etc. but I figure if its possible for one re-builder to do it than there must be others. cimmer Posted August 25, 2021 Share #11 Posted August 25, 2021 You best bet is just to keep monitoring Ebay and see if one shows up as they do from time to time. Pinwall Cycle out of Ohio seems to have some from time to time and they sell on ebay. Good luck Rick F.
