RDawson Posted January 27, 2021 Share #3 Posted January 27, 2021 I don’t have a 3rd Gen but 1st &2nd gen both say to not tow with wheel on the ground. The transmission isn’t lubricated correctly without the engine running. The forces of acceleration and hard braking are also transmitted up the forks and neck, not something that excites me. As mentioned the transmission uses engine oil under pressure for lubrication, With the engine not running there is no oil flow to those parts. I wonder how that would wear the rear tire if towed any distance. Even w/o torque applied I wonder if it would feather and wear it prematurely before you get it to the destination. A single place motorcycle trailer is light and usually cost effective, the HD guys have sure time/mileage tested them over and over again 😆 I see them on CL now and again reasonably priced.
