Recommended Posts

We are up to our armpits into tools, paint, wires, connectors, wires, patch cords, screws, nuts, bolts, washers, tools, screwdrivers and nut drivers, hi-fi units, CDs, vinyl records, cassette tapes, tool boxes, air compressor, boots, generator, power tools, paint, cleaners, polishes, more tools, sound equipment, cabinets, storage means, laptop running XP, keyboard,,,,,,soooooo much to choose from,,, take a gander. We didn't have time to test anything, but it's all there so far.

The generator is brand-spankin new, never been started, wood cabinet is full, like full, of CDs.

We looked at different ways to move this stuff.

Becky lives in a mobile trailer village. One of the rules is: no garage sales except for once a year in the spring, so that's out.

Packing and shipping is not a good choice, it would take a world of time, the closest anybody, except Amy, lives is at least 1 hr away, so that makes it hard to go that route.

We are thinking to pack everything up and move it to the rally site, only a few miles away and have a garage sale there. That might work the best. We would need a number of pick up trucks, people to do the work and in the end somewhere to get rid of the left-overs.

We thought though, that we would offer it here first, for ideas and purchase. I'm sure that if anybody came for a look-see and they brought a pickup, it would be filled to the brim before they left and it really wouldn't be that hard on the pocketbook.

Thanks for taking on this project for Becky. My thought would be an auction vs. a yard sale. That way everything would be sold. An auctioneer in the area should be able to give you some input on how to have it moved and and idea of what the outcome would be. The auctioneer may even have a location the he uses on a regular basis. If it could be moved to the rally barn at Pioneer would be a great venue. Good luck and keep up the good work.

I agree.. Call an estate auctioneer. I have a fishing buddy that lost his leg and could no longer make sawdust. He needed to make room in the garage and we took the stuff.. Shop Smith, Fess Tools, tools, etc. to an auctioneer. He just needed it gone. They got rid of everything. He was happy, the Auctioneer was happy, and I think he made more money than if he'd gone thru the hassle of selling it himself...

  • 4 weeks later...

Bob was very organized, looks like he could find everything without much trouble. I should only be half as organized as he was. Thats quite a lot of stuff to get rid off.
