Spam attack

Recommended Posts

Folks, in case you haven't noticed, we are being attacked by spam today. I started deleting them early this morning and have deleted literally dozens of users today. I have reset things so that I have to approve members before they can post. I did that because of a large number of pornographic posts that new members were posting. So for now, anytime somebody registers, they will not be able to post until I approve them. I'm probably going to turn off the "Welcome" messages also.

I have not noticed any yet and hope I never do. This spam is getting to be real anoying at work we have had to take training seasion on detecting and avoiding getting traped by hackeers. These internet terroists can cause major issues and sadly they are getting better at it all the time. Never fails how good things always have to be ruined by someone.

maybe no more free trial would that hurt the future of venture riders :parrots: :080402gudl_prv: :fingers-crossed-emo :bang head:

Unfortunately I believe it would hurt the site. Watching the stats there are many guests that visit. I myself am new to the site within the year. I monitored many sites as a visitor before I registered for this one. I was on a small forum that basically just phased out after implementing a 'no free "visitors"' viewpoint. I've gotta say though that it worked out for me as this site is a good one.

Yea, we went through something but this is different. They are just registering and hiding little hints to their products in their registrations. Most of them never even confirm their email addresses. I'm working on figuring out a solution.

Here's another one Don.... Haleymok. I think you hit the nail. Remove the auto Welcome, and pre-approve any trial memberships... After a while they'll prpbably go away.... Hopefully... :-)

I've been away most of the weekend just looking at the new posts and bottom right hand corner, a 1"sg. logal in the shape of a grey & blue arrow saying

"Privacy-Terms" it seem to be baiting for a click..
