Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

I'm glad we got to spend some time with you around the campfire at the West Virginia VR rally.

As was said already, Don, please post the funeral info if you get it.

As we go thru life, we will sometimes meet one of those unique people that just adds to your life. Yes, if there was ever anyone that was always willing to help, it would have been Dan. I have been blessed by knowing him and the sorrow I feel is overwhelming.

I had been very anxious about this trip as I knew he had probably gone 24 hours without sleep. The last message I got was about 2AM Sat morning with him telling me that he would call me when he got home.

But ya know, I can't help but visualize Yammer standing at the Pearly Gates having an argument with St Peter over something.

You can now ride free Dan without the pain and hurt you have been dealing with.

So sad to see this post. I was just about getting online here when Ragtop called me with this news. Now I'm in shock as many others here are. :bawling::bawling::bawling: Can hardly see to type this. :crying::crying:

...like everyone else, we were stunned to read this tragic news.

First, our heart-felt condolences to Yammerdan's Family.

Then, and we're not sure which order to put these in...

Who else could generate FOUR PAGES, and 54 condolence messages in a mere 12 hours (when this was written)?!

Imagine what this must be doing to Dan's younger Brother.

At least Yammerdan died doing something he loved to do.

And he'll ride on forever, in our hearts and minds.

Sincerely, WRIDR

I am sorry that I am just now getting around to posting. I have known Yammer Dan since I first joined the family. I used to chat with four members on VR chat almost every night. They were Mini Muffin, Dray, Ruffy, and Yammer Dan. Sometimes it would just be Yammer Dan and myself. Three days ago Dan messaged me and wondered if Ron and I could help him out with getting this trike he wanted to buy. We unfortunately were really busy this weekend with our daughter coming in from Chicago, or we would have tried to help him. One night I could not sleep and Dan came on and we chatted again. He was so excited about this trike he had found, he could not sleep. So I was trying to tell him how happy I was for him. Today, I heard the horrible news. Ron and I are in tremendous shock. Our sympathies to Dan's family and all of his good friends. I know we will never forget our dear friend Dan. This photo is from the first SKID IN, Yammer Dan is in the black t-shirt and doo rag on the far left standing next to Ron and me.

I am so shocked and saddened by this news. Although I never got to meet him,I always enjoyed his comments, humor, knowledge and personality. He was one of many characters whomade you want to keep coming back, even if you don't ride a Venture any more. We miss you Dan. Prayrs and concolences to your family. So very sad.

OH NO!!!! My heart hurts so bad!

Teresa and I are in Phoenix on vacation, and I haven’t checked the site in a few days. Seeing this news breaks my heart in two. What an integral part of our venturerider family Dan has been. This is gonna hurt for a long while. So many times during the past 9 years that I have been on this site, Dan has offered me sage advice that helped me. And, on numerous occasion, he very cleverly poked fun at me to keep me on my toes. To know how happy he was about getting his new to him trike, and then to hear the word that had gone down after getting to spend such a short time on it, well, I just stumble for words express my sadness.

Teresa and I will certainly keep the Wardon and the rest of his family in hour prayers, as they walk through this extremely tough time.

I’m simply at a loss for words.

I had not had the pleasure of meeting him outside the forum but anyone that spends time here is familiar with his great nature, wit, knowledge and humor. I remember him on a couple occasions in chat and hes one of the folks I had really looked forward to meeting. His posts imparted valuable information, help and entertainment for everyone, even folks that arent members yet will benifet. I'm glad he was here, I'm glad he got the trike he had wanted for so long and got to ride it away. How fantastic that he got to experience this before having to go. When terrible news like this comes down the line I try to find some light beyond the tragic circumstances. Condolences to his family and everyone here, it will not be the same without him. Sad news for sure. RIP.

It's hard to say goodbye my friend

to a brother one loves so dear.

The times we shared while living life,

but we knew these times were near.

Going out with our boots on,

like you and I talked it thru.

Beyond my tears my heart can still smile,

in it's memories of knowing you.

Before we met at the Dragon's Tail

or smacked our heads at that Chiken place.

I knew what you were gonna look like,

though you jokingly hid your face.

You simply could not hide from us,

who you really are.

The real Yammer Dan was crystal clear,

to those both near and far.

My friend could never run and hide,

even when they called him off to War.

While others turned their backs on freedom,

our way of life not worth fighting for.

But you did us proud and stood for us,

standing strong for the U.S.A.

A young man of grit and honor,

you didn't go to play.

When the job was finished and you came home,

from doing what had to be done.

To start your precious family,

you bragged about each and every one.

I already miss our talks dear friend,

about messing with our grand kids.

And how our lifes have changed a bit,

watching em doing what our children once did.

Will our offspring someday figure out,

if the Blue 1st Gen is really faster?

Personally Dan I still have my doubts,

I wonder if your talking about that with our Master?

Speaking now about our chats,

about "The Man" above.

I hope that you are finding peace,

while basking in His love.

I know that all that pain is gone,

that was so hard to take.

Those all night chats are finally done,

from the pain keeping you awake.

You kept our clubhouse rockin bro,

though probation was always there.

You KNOW I'll miss your smiling face,

in the penalty box that we did share.

I am so proud to have known,

my brother to the end.

That I got to know our Yammer Dan,

and I got to be his friend.

I have been asked to write something for Dan's family from a former member Ruffy, who's name is really Jeff Koppelman. Jeff wanted me to extend his most sincere condolences to Dan's family and Patsy. He knew Dan very well .

Like everyone, I am stunned by this news and at a loss for words. I always enjoyed Dan's posts...his good natured banter and sage advice will be sorely missed. Prayers and sincere condolences for his family. May they ultimately find peace in the knowledge that Dan was loved by so many. And although he and I never met, as with all the Venturerider family, I called him friend.

As we say in the Navy with great respect... Fair winds and following seas shipmate, stand down, rest easy, we have the watch.

God Bless

A very sad day indeed. I never had the opportunity to meet Dan but read most of his posts.

Our thoughts prayers go out for him and his family.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

It's a surprise to find how one can have such a real emotional bond with someone you've never met.

I was devastated by this news. I would have been proud to call Dan Friend had I earned that right. I do consider him a brother in the wind.

R.I.P. Brother Dan

His family will be in my prayers.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Dan but he came across as genuine. Every morning when i logged on to my computer i would check "Skids Ordeal" to see what kind of day Dan was having, I am going to miss his comments and sense of humour. For all the people that knew him and his family "PRAYERS UP".

VSP investigating fatal single-vehicle crash in Lee County

By: Jordan Moore

Updated: May 06, 2018 09:59 PM EDT

LEE COUNTY, VA (WJHL)- Virginia State Police officials said they are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened over the weekend in Lee County.

According to VSP, a trooper responded to Route 58, less than a mile west of Route 912 Saturday morning around 10:30.

That's where authorities said a man, identified as 68-year-old Daniel M. Woods of Ivydale, West Virginia, was traveling east on his motorcycle.

VSP reports the motorcycle ran off the right side of Route 58 and hit the guardrail.

Woods was taken to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, where he later died from his injuries.

We're told Woods was wearing a helmet.

That crash is still under investigation.
