Butler Seat Mod - Awesome!

Recommended Posts

After reading all the strings I could find, I sent off my Pillow-Top seats (front and passenger) to Rick Butler to have him work them over. I am 6"4" and my wife/passenger is 5'2" so we make a great fit for our "07 Midnight RSV, except the seats. She really never complained about the ride but for me it was never uncomfortable, just not right. Main complaint was the "#%$ on tank" feeling that I always had, as well as the desire to "get down into the bike" not ride up on it. Got my seats back from Rick, installed them, and first warm day took it for a 3 hour spin, albeit solo. Results..... Perfect! Rick cut in the seat in the rear so it doesn't feel like it is trying to slide me down onto the tank, but lets me sit down behind the tank. He narrowed the front of seat, too and covered it with a couple inches of memory foam. First time I've ridden that long with out the need to change positions often. The best I can say it feels as though it was meant to be that way, in a good way. A GREAT mod to the bike for a very fair price. Much pleased!! Thoughts and prayers are with you Rick as move forward.... Purple17 (Doug)

Rodburner, I am afraid pics won't do the seat justice. Rick uses memory foam inside so the seat appears the same as it did before, or fairly close. It is the base foam that he reshaped and then the memory foam fills in the cover. Sitting on it tells the big difference. I can tell you he did both seats for $75 and it was about $72 for UPS (there and back with insurance) of the box that I bought at HomeDepot for a couple of bucks. Could have saved some on shipping if I had time to work at it, but didn't. If you look in the classified section he has an ad for the service and includes a lot of info. I have added a lot of "farkles" to my ride but this was at the top!

Hey Guys,

You can find everything you need on my seat reconstruction in the Classifieds under 'Member Vendors....Rick Butler:

http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=21&title=butt-butler-seat-mod&cat=16

And what many of you may not realize is that for the most part I am exclusive to the seat needs of the VentureRider members. Now word of mouth has gotten out on me over the years and I now reconstruct seats for just about every bike. When the members of the GL1800 forum found out about me, they covered me up with seats for several months.

And this seems to be my "Seat Time" of the year.

Just let me know how I can help you,

Rick
Thank you!

I got my seats back from Rick last week.

I'm grinning like a butchers dog.

Much more comfort for my boney butt.

I highly recommend!

Don't forget to order his seat and saddlebag thumb screws.

It will make life much easier.
