Full Throttle Saloon, Sturgis, SD

Just wanted to share a few pics of what it looks like today (04/18/16)...

Such a sad sight, but it is in the embryo stages of being reincarnated.

I was escorted today for a behind the "rope" tour of what was the Full Throttle Saloon, and I was able to stand on the exact spot where the fire started. A cooler cord that was pinched causing a flame that ignited a cardboard box.

You can buy a bottle/ container of the original ashes of the place if you wish!

I was told today that there should be / will be a USA wide NEWS broadcast as to what the future will be on the Full Throttle Saloon.

It will be broadcast next week., from what I was told today.

Check out the pics attached..sad, sad, sad..

I only clicked "like" cause I really really LIKE Sturgis and love South Dakota - not because I "liked" to see those pics Eck!! Terrible what happened to the Throttle - just glad no one was injured!!!

Your only a couple miles from my personal campground (camp on the open prairie when we go out),, sure makes my heart yern for the Prairie brother!! You get a chance - stop at ground zero Sturgis Rally - the place where it all began.. Place is called Gypsie Vintage Cycle and its located on Junction Ave about half way between Main Street and 90 on the right hand side - its a bike shop. Guy that runs it is a really good guy, always has a bunch of vintage stuff around.. Bronze plaque near front door says something about being ground zero.. Good place to spend a half hour or so peeking at his inventory.. Tell him a buddy of yours told you to ask if you could go in the backroom - thats where he keeps the cool stuff :big-grin-emoticon:

Glad to see your ok out there ya lop eared cross country trippin varmint!!

Drive safe!!

Just announced today that Full Throttle is moving. Looks like they purchased the Broken Spoke and are going to call it the Pappy Hoel memorial campground. Looks like things are being shaken up a bit at Sturgis this year. Good Ole Tx2sturgis turned me on to this.

Guess I won't be having lunch there the first week May.

Got that right Marsh BUT - if you make it to the Throttle parking lot its only 26.2 miles north to the famous - BLUE LINE DINER in Newell South Dakota, they have great lunches and GREAT pie and are now home to the famous Pie Butt 26.2 ride - hosted annually during the Sturgis Rally by a lop eared South Dakota Harley riding farmer varmint known as @bj66 !!

I had heard rumor in the past that the Broken Spoke was for sale. Rumor was that the owners did real well up in the ND oilfields and didn't need the headache. It seems to stay pretty full considering it is quite a ways north of Sturgis now. Come to think of it I also heard it was offered to some church to use as a youth camp. But you know how it is, you hear a lot of stuff. How much of it was actually true is anybody's guess.

Well here is the released news on the Full Throttle Saloon guys.

I stopped by there today and spoke with grounds manager, and sure enough Mike bought the Broken Spoke and he will have BOTH places open for Sturgis 2016.

Full Throttle location will never be what it was, but it will be open and it is the start of a new beginning.

My wife and I went over to Broken Spoke, but the gate was closed /locked so I took a few pictures.

Hey Eck, I sure did not mean to hijack your post. Love the pics you are posting, That FTS sure was something to visit when they were up and running. I noticed the burnt memorabilia was all on pallets. I wonder if they will move it all to the new location. Those pics of both places sure do not do justice to all the action that goes on during the rally week. Lots of good memories you've brought back to me.

Thanks

Bill

The second pic showing the Broken Spoke building is pretty cool. The first road running along side the highway takes you up to the building and comes into the side of it. The grass strip in between the other 2 is the parking lot. Vendors set up along both sides of the grass and you park there. The first road taking you to the side of the bar actually goes through the bar. You enter from the side, and follow the yellow lines on the floor. They curve and you come out the front of the bar and park into the parking lot. It is pretty neat and kind of fun. Everybody gets to see your bike when you come through. When you get through the bar they have attendants that show you where to park.

I forgot to add, the grass strip in the middle of the parking lot also had the big outdoor stage set up on it.......
