ditchdoctor Posted June 19, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2014 Just got done with a second trunk for our 2000 Venture. Thanks to Mike Eykamp for the extra brake and turn signal light and the V-Star Badge. Thanks to Larry Skeels for the hitch rack.
slowrollwv Posted June 19, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2014 Great job! I just got a Venture trunk off ebay to do the same thing. I don't think mine will look that nice but all I want it to be is functional. I will work on getting it nice after the rally.
a1bummer Posted June 20, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 20, 2014 Great minds think alike! I put a MKII trunk on my 84 a few years back. Before my trip to Oklahoma I mounted the original MKI trunk where my hitch plate bolts to. 2,200 miles round trip and no problems. Couldn't even tell it was back there. It provided the extra space I needed without having to take the trailer, and put the extra weight down low. Bill
Beau-Kat Posted June 20, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 20, 2014 Those look cool! I kinda wonder about the exhaust fumes getting into them though.
etcswjoe Posted June 20, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 20, 2014 Cool! Can you still see the license plate? I found out here in SC they really frown upon things blocking the tag.
XV1100SE Posted June 20, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 20, 2014 Does it block your license plate ?
Tisunac Posted June 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 20, 2014 Great job! Would you make and sell them? I believe there's a market for them here on the forum. Especially painted in original color. If you decide to make them please let us know here.... Everybody who travels 3+ days on a Venture should have one in a garage...
a1bummer Posted June 20, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 20, 2014 Mine does cover the license plate. I was prepared to move the plate if anybody had a cow over it. 2.200 miles through WI., MN., IA., OK., MO., and IL. nobody batted an eye at it. I'll post some pics of how I mounted mine when I get a chance. Bill
ditchdoctor Posted June 20, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted June 20, 2014 It does block the plate but you can still read the numbers. Just can't see the tags. You are able to see it completely when on an angle. I feel it isn't any different that if and when I pull our small trailer.
