Coolant Leak

Ok so I had the coolant leak at the drain valve, so I repair that with sky_docs kit. No more leaking there. When I leave the bike sit overnight there is nothing leaking, until I start it, then it leaks a little and stops. Will not leak any more the rest of the day no matter how long it sits, or how cool the outside temp is. Did not have this leak before. Any ideas? I am going to pull the lower chin fairing off tomorrow before I start it to see where it is coming from. has anyone had this happen before?

hey Jim im going thru what you went thru just havent traced the leak yet let me know what you come up with im thinking about changing out everything all the o rings and the plastic tube all the hoses are done already

When I looked up there this morning it seemed to be coming from the o-ring where the drain valve pipe goes into the thermostat housing, but I could not get a good view with the spoiler on. Tomorrow I am going to remove it before I start it to get a better look. I did pick up that particular o-ring at the local dealer before I changed the drain valve o-ring in case I neede to remove the valve. I repost tomorrow when I find out for sure

Use a small paintbrush and some baby powder and "dust" the suspected area the nigt before. Then you can see if the night went well and your morning trial will showcase.

Thermostat cover is leaking slightly in the front.....checked it earlier and thats where she's leaking.

Pretty common problem. A new o-ring did the trick on mine. Pretty simple and inexpensive fix.

Is it necessary to remove the housing from the bike to just replace the cover/o-ring?
