Pictures to follow I think the Velorex dealer must have "manufactured" these two brackets when they installed it on Rooster's '99. The bottom one (next to the rear brake master cylinder) looks to be one of the Velorex factory mounts. Both of the other bracket are held to the M/C frame with what looks to be muffler clamps. I think they are a little stronger than the run of the mill clamp. I had to have the rear bracket reinforced in the bottom bend. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What sidecar are you mounting?. am mounting a DJP sidecar just needed to see how others have got around the airbox in the front to get to the frame the bottom front will be mounted using the foot boards 4 bolts but keep it narrow so i can still get to the oil filter .on the back will be using the existing centre stand bracket will post picks when i get it done. I have had some difficulty keeping the frame tube clamps from slipping on my MKII installation. A modified version of your design would be much more stable. Off to the drawing board!! There is not much frame detail but the frame rear lower mount clamps to the frame in 2 places and bolts to 2 other places on the frame to prevent rotation and I also bolted it to a bracket on the crosstube. I don't know what this bracket was for but it was there so I gave it more strength. Anyhow, I bought a used Champion Escort with full intention of buying a manufactured set of mounts specific for the RSV. I first contacted Champion directly and inquired about buying mounts. They offered them for $1000.00 a set. Money doesn’t go into my wallet very easy and it leaves even harder so I had a hard time with the price. But I was able to look at what they offered and I wasn’t impressed. A majority of the forces reacting from the sidecar are on the rear lower and upper mounts. Champion mounts one piece of tubing to the side of the bike for the rear upper and lower mounts and some of the mounting points don’t appear to be very strong. http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=72852&stc=1&d=1353591490 http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=72853&stc=1&d=1353591490 Next I looked at DMC sidecars. They offered a set of mounts for $675.00. The reason I didn’t buy from them is because they didn’t offer any pictures or couldn’t tell me how they attached or anything else for that matter. In the end they admitted they had only built one set and didn’t have much information. Now I must be clear, I am not bashing DMC as they get great reviews within the sidecar community, I am just stating my experience and why I choose not to buy from them. The next place looked was Motorvation engineering. These people were great to talk to and they offered plenty of pictures and a price list online. Their complete set of mounts was about $700.00. The lower rear mount they use is just a frame clamp. This concerned me because the “Truss like” triangulation of the mounting arms causes forces (parallel to the ground) on the lower mounts. This would constantly be trying to spin the lower rear clamp. http://www.motorvation.com/rystmts1.htm I know what you’re thinking, will anything make this guy happy? Well I am hard to please and I expect a lot for my money. I had exhausted my options of buying a set of mounting hardware and decided to build my own. I did buy one clamp from Motorvation to use under the seat.
