Well so far I am at BREMBO.. but still looking for the thread size and pitch..

Whitney down at speedbleeder is awesome , she is sending me a few different

sets to find out what the right one is... it also might be the same as the rear

OEM of the RSV as well. I will find out soon.

Brembo is used on Harley's as well.

I will know in a couple days as I am working with

Whitney and she also wants to know what works for

us Hannigan owners to place it on her website,

So what she is doing is sending me a few extra types

to see what works... I tell her and she now will have

the correct part number for you to order. :-)

What doesn't work I will send back to her.

Awesome folks at SpeedBleeders ! :happy65:

UPDATE SOON !!!

Wonder why Jim says that they use Brembo?

And sure :-)

:scratchchin:

Bob, why don't you sent at least one to me if you

want to get rid of both thats fine. this way if they

used two different types of calipers , I can make sure the same

speed-bleeder will fit both before I report back to Whitney.

I will pay postage both ways , thanks.

I will PM you my addy now.

Thanks Bro.

My Twinkie's should be here today I hope ! :cool10:

I had my 2009 Venture triked May 2012. I have had a couple of instances where the rear brakes became completely useless. Riding down to Helen, GA and down the Cherohala skyway. On the Helen trip I thought maybe I was using the rear brakes too much and not the gearbox. The front brake remained effective. So I was VERY carefull about braking protocols on the Cherohala. I find that the rear brakes as installed on the Hannigan kit on my bike work very well but only for a short time. If you use them with any frequency, they fade away. I'm not talking about hard and long brake use, I talking about normal touch and slow useage. And no, I do not ride the brakes. Last week I was riding and stopped at an auto dealer (car pre-shopping) and the salesman was admiring the trike. He was looking at the rear wheels and commented that the brake calipers were very small. He even asked if they worked well.

I've noticed that Hannigan had a brake "fix" some time back, but I assumed my kit was after that fix.

Any info on this that I should be checking into?

The new rotors have holes in them and are larger ,if not you still have the old

style, contact Jim @ Hannigan and he will send you out the upgrade at no charge.

even with my old system in the last 4 years I have never had a problem like yours.

Cougar: That's what they look like on my trike. The calipers appear to be singles, is that correct? Is there a larger caliper/pads that will fit without altering anything?

JFI, when the brakes are cool or working properly or whatever the blinky blanky I can lock up the rear end. But apparently when they get a little hot, they just quit!

Yeah. that seem very strange to me. as mine do not ever do that... maybe

your brake fluid is getting to hot? then things don't work right? just a thought.

And yes they are single. I am not going to change to larger ones as I feel

it is not needed. it stops on a dime now and I am happy with it.

I also will be changing the fluids soon. and that is my cleanest fluids on the trike

at this point from 4 years ago.

Just waiting on my speed bleeders and announce what one's are correct for the

stock Hannigan set-up. should be here tomorrow and I will work on this over

the weekend I hope.

Myself I was just plain unhappy with the setup of the Hannigan rear brakes but I modified before the change that Hannigan initiated. Funny thing, they don't inform anybody about the change unless you complain about them. I went to stock Honda CRX rotors and calipers but had to switch the master cylinder to a 13/16 in bore Wilwood master cylinder and made an adapter plate and cut up my brake pedal/master cylinder mounting bracket. Had to also come up with new ss rear lines and line from master to y adapter. It was a fair amount of work but well worth it IMHO. The hardest part was coming up with the right bore for the master cylinder. Tried 3 different diameters before I hit the one I lke the best. Too big a diameter and no pedal travel but need a lot of force, too small and lots of travel but too touchy grabby brakes...

The correct size of speed-bleeders for the OEM Brembo Caliper from Hannigan is

SB1010S M10 x 1.0

Just did my clutch these bleeders are the best thing since sliced bread.

Thanks Whitney for working with me on this project.

She will be putting this on her site soon.
