When I was shooting the Rusty Wallace Driving School this past weekend I also stayed and did a little walking around the pits of the Legend Racing Series. The engine they all have to use is a Yammi. They haul... Radar gun showed 98MPH on the small straights.

Orginaly they used a Yamaha FJ 1200. But that bike went out of production somewhere in early 90"s. 600 Racing (parent company of legends) contracted with Yamaha to re-produce the motors. So they are now called a XJ 1300. Which was porduced a few years after the FJ went out only as a European version I think. Same motor just a little bigger. I have seen the 1200 beat the 1300 before and regularly at times. The motors will rev like crazy 10500 rpm or more. The cars have a minimum weight of 1000lb. They a fun to race but unfortunaly for me it just got cost prohibitive. We starte to get to many kids racing on PHD's (pop has dollars) and dad worked and fixed the car while they went and listened to I pod or went and played on the swing set or something. If they had to work on the cars and understand setting them up things would be different.

You could defiantly see the teams that had the dollars. Big Toy Haulers almost like Nascar teams.

Most of the hobbyist don't stand a chance against them. They simply can't afford a new engine to try out or new tires every couple of heats.

How many hands does the guy in Photo #2 have? :Bunny:

Let's just say he was very handy:rotf: Those were tech inspection guys checking carbs during teardown. All of the first 3 cars had to pull the carbs, and a front & rear tire for post inspection.
